Phone question

Will a calling card we buy in Florida, or Tennessee, work in Key West? I have heard yes from some people while others said no. Is there one that does and others that don't? We hope our cell phone will work there, but do not get any definite answers about that either.

We ARE still part of the U.S.!!! Although some would argue that point! Anyway...just kidding. Cell phones work fine and so do phone cards. The only place cell phones don't work very well is if you are offshore, say on a fishing or diving trip. So, not to worry!

All the phones work now, we had wires put in last year. When you spin the dial for "0", an operator will say "Bueno?" then you begin speaking. The payphones take pesos y centimas.

Yes, those Conchs tried to beat their way out of the US with Cuban bread several years ago, but had a change of heart. They still belong to the good ole US of A!! :D :D

My old 1999 Conch Republic Passport has 21 countries stamped in it....that's pretty good, but then 9/11 came along.

Okay, I'm not stupid, I know Key West is part of the U.S. I have read posts that claim that they could not use calling cards they bought at home in Key West. I was just checking to see if it was true.

Now the only Conch passports you can get are the ones for (us) tourists!!:rolleyes: :p
