Linz or Cesky Krumlov

We will be aboard the Viking Hermod. They have 2 places scheduled for the same day...Linz and Cesky Krumlov. I would like some opinions on both destinations to help decide which one would be better for my husband and myself. Thanks

You will probably get more responses over on the river cruise board. The answer depends on your take on bus rides.

 

Linz is right on the Danube . . . You can pretty much walk to everything of interest in this industrial city (industry is on the outskirts). There are two interesting art museums, several churches, and the world's steepest traction tram up to a shrine and great overlook.

 

Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful and charming small town. But, assuming the ship is docked in Linz, you will have about an hour and a quarter bus ride each way.

 

Depending on your interest, you might be interested in the Matthausen Memorial. But it is a out away from Linz, and I don't know if there are tours that provide transportation. It is a grim and sobering experience. I
