astridwilson Posted March 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2018 Here is some information and threads I put together: http://www.tropicalsnorkeling.com/snorkeling-puerto-chiquito.html Mangel Halto - The best snorkeling site available on Aruba. Puerto Chiquito - Great shore snorkeling with a one-way drift option to Mangel Halto. Do not attempt to snorkel here if the waves are big; it is beston a calm day. You also need to watch out for boats when you are over the outerreef. As you walk down to the water from the parking area, there areshallow bays to both the right and left. Enter at the corner of the left onefor snorkeling Puerto Chiquito. Once in the water, swim out to the left a little and through theopening of the bay. After you pass out into unprotected waters you swim right. The current is moving from left to right mostof the time. Do a one-way drift snorkelto Mangel Halto. In this whole area andquite a distance out from shore, you will find healthy corals and a good numberof fish in 10 to 20 feet of water, but near the drop off it gets deeper. Thevisibility is generally good, though may be a bit less close to shore. Arashi Beach, Boca Catalina and Malmok. Do not swim to the Antilla wreck, too much current, around .5mile. Take the Arubus to the beach. Both have stops. Taxi back if time is limited. Fora cheap day of unlimited snorkeling, for $2.60 roundtrip take the bus to Malmokand snorkel Boca Catalina and Catalina Cove to your heart's content. When wesnorkeled the Antilla and Boca Catalina areas in June, the water at BocaCatalina had 100% better visibility than the Antilla.
lgbcruise Posted March 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Just back we took our 6 year old out to Boca Catalina. Snorkeling was great. Please know that there are no facilities here.
Leavethekidswithmom Posted March 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Just back we took our 6 year old out to Boca Catalina. Snorkeling was great. Please know that there are no facilities here. There’s facilities at Arashi Beach, two blocks north of Catalina and a block north of Catalina Cove. Walking distance. NateUpNorth Posted April 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2018 Just back we took our 6 year old out to Boca Catalina. Snorkeling was great. Please know that there are no facilities here. Could you expand on "great"? Calm? Visibility? Sea Life? All three? Thanks, this is our plan with the 7 yr old and the 5 yr old.
miss_rach Posted April 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2018 I was going to start a new post but seen this one and will ask a fwe questions and hopes that folks can chime in and answer. 1. We are advanced in swimming/snorkeling and have no problems swimming out far and in heavy current. We are looking for a place that is the best to snorkel waves/current really doesn't matter (to a point)...BLUF: We not looking for places for new or limited experiences swimmers. Where should we go? 2. After spending some time there we are looking for a place where you can rent chairs/umbrellas that has food and drink. Wive does NOT swim/snorkel so we is good with the rest of us going for a few hours (thus looking for the place in above #1) then we need to find a nice beach with amenities. Where will that be? Cheers!
