Airport transfer

I'm thinking of booking a Manhattan Highlights and Airport Transfer excursion at the end of our cruise in August but wondered if anybody any experience of these. Are they worth it or a waste of money? Would I be better of just taking a taxi to JFK? Thanks.

I went on that tour in November last year. I had never visited New York before, so I enjoyed seeing it.
