MACK3 Posted September 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2018 We just returned from Seattle to Alaska and back. Four of us traveled on the ship and had a great time. My friend carried a case (12 bottles) of fine wine on board and no one said a word. We had a bottle for dinner every night and found the sommelier sevice to be spectacular. We also brought a couple of bottles on board at two stops for in-room cocktails. Again, no questions asked. The wine by the glass menu was quite adequate with about 12 white and 12 red choices. Nothing spectacular but lots of varieties of wine. Overall a good selection for whatever food was served. Get to know the somms and they will treat you well...:D:D:D:D
happy cruzer Posted September 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Did you pay corkage fees?
arima22 Posted September 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Did you pay corkage fees? Of course he did as he said the sommelier provided excellent service, automatically charged when the bottle is placed on the table and opened. Bill is presented for signature at the end of the dinner, charged to the room. Charged for each bottle opened that night. Each bottle is marked with the room number when opened. Remainder of bottle is placed into the wine storage and called for by the passenger at the next dinning- lunch or dinner- white chilled, red not. Do not have to pay corkage if only drunk in the cabin- not taken to a public venue.

Two4Sea Posted September 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Put this phrase into the search box at the top left of Google Maps: liquor, Vancouver Cruise Ship Dock . Press search, zoom in, there's a BC Government liquor store one block south and two blocks east. In the 50's the Provincial government was anti liquor but they knew they couldn't do prohibition. So they monopolized the business and put up anonymous yellow brick stores with glass block windows and no signs.Even the blind drunk could spot them from a mile away. We now have both government and private stores, looking like everybody else's. Bill
