Questions on CAS

I have not sailed with NCL in 5 years. The last 4 cruises I took were all comped through CAS, all suites. I have not cruised since the new rating system(lucky, hot, golden, vip). I booked an october cruise through CAS through Foxwoods casino. My question is where do you think I will placed as far as ratings go? If there was such a rating system 10 years ago, I think I would have been a vip because I always was comped suites and paid for very little on board(specialty dining, drinks ship wide, excursions all comped). I stopped going on NCL because of a bad experience on my last cruise in the casino which left a sour taste in my mouth. When I called CAS and asked where I would placed and what card I would start out with, they basically had no idea??? Does anyone have experience with this and have an idea where I may be placed? Worst case scenerio, say I was brand new and booked through a Casino, where would I start out at?

Thanks

Lucky. The rating period was last year. You didn't have any play, so you rate as a newbie. A Foxwoods comp is not a CAS comp.

My guess is you will start out as Lucky. Since you haven't played on CAS during the last ratings period, you will have to start at the bottom. CAS has been very strict with their new ratings - in the last seven years or so, I would have been VIP or Golden any given year (depending on year), but they stuck to their ground when the new system came out retroactively when I had only one sailing in their "earning year" (two during the calendar year more than 20K earned points). Hubby was set down to "Lucky" after earning 4800 points on that one sailing, but over 15K in the calendar year. The retroactive part is what really stinks, but at least I know better for this year and have already pretty much earned Golden status with one sailing.

Also, for the future, CAS has really tightened up on their comps. Up to about three years ago, all my sailings were all in comped suites, now I am comped mini suites usually, with higher play basis than before. Still the best deal at sea, but much tighter.

I had sailed many times and got tired of their poor comps even after big donations. We are going again soon with a Harrahs comp. From what I have been able to figure out, any play over 12-18 months is worthless. You are "dead" to them. I would think after a night or two of play, they may acknowledge us degenerates.

Hey Stephen, I just noticed you won the 2011 Sun tourney! Congrats! Are you planning to do any of the ones coming up? I have never done a tourney sailing, as I hate having the casino packed, but was thinking of maybe doing one in this latest batch.. How was your experience with sailing a tourney cruise?

Thanks guys. I was kind of figuring I would start at the bottom. No big deal. I will give them a little play and see how it goes. I am going on this cruise for time away and not to really to gamble.

Like I said before I have a bad taste in my mouth from my last cruise with them. I had a $1600 bet out on Blackjack, got 10 against a 5 and doubled, so $3200 out. The shoe was kind of messed up(maybe brand new) and 3 cards came out at once. The dealer somehow gives me the middle card(an 8). I stop the game right there and call the floor over. They tell me whatever I was dealt was the card, thats it. Up until this point I have had nothing but great experiences in the casinos on NCL. I then insist that someone look at the cameras and I was told that there are no cameras on the back tables(B.S., I was at a $200 table, the biggest on board at the time). The hand plays out, with the dealer turning over a nine, then taking the next card with would have been mine(a 4) making the hand a push, if the cards would have been played out the correct way, I would have lost the hand. Regardless of the win, the way the situation was handled was horrible, that was the 3rd night of the cruise and the last hand that I palyed on NCL. I still had the rest of my account comped and even had future cruise offers for 3 years, but never went back. This may be a blessing in disguise with this upcoming cruise, no pressure to gamble, just have fun.

Thanks again guys for the responses

My last cruise was Dec 2012 and prior to that 2 cruises Nov & Dec 2011. I only play slots, but I do play a bunch. When I called CAS last week, I was offered a balony comp'd (on the 4 night Sky). I asked what my rating was and they were able to tell me exactly how many "points" I had and what my card would be. 5800 and I was "hot". Really surprised they wouldn't tell you. Even if you were only "Lucky", they should let you know. I had a very nice person on the phone at CAS, who actually seem to like her job.:o

You have points because you sailed in the qualifying period April 2012-March 2013. The OP doesn't have any because he doesn't have any cruises in that year.

I am only Hot, even though I had lots of cruises in that qualifying year, time to step up and stop being a low roller this next cruise ;)
