We stayed at holiday inn express 17th Street fort Lauderdale and enjoyed it very much. Great location, trolley to beach, free breakfast and airport shuttle restaurants, bars, stores right there.

Thank you. We ended up booking this. It's in our budget and the area seems highly talked about. I've read about construction going on. Not sure if still there in 2 months but as long as just the day, but a huge deal

According to their website, construction should be wrapping up soon:

A change is coming. We are currently adding 69 new guest rooms, a pool, meeting space, and a three-level parking garage. All renovations are being done outside of the hotel. Our parking garage should be available for long-term parking in October, 2018... and our additional guest rooms will also be available for arrivals by October, 2018.

Hopefully you should be fine in early December.
