First day on Oasis

Today we boarded the Oasis, our first time on her, third on RCCL. Long lines and not marked well where you need to go but after 1.5 hrs we finally boarded. Luggage arrived in our room at 4 and 5:30...a bit late I think. This ship is huge...it's more like a floating mall. Our room 12554 is awful. The bed is shoved in the corner by an extremely small closet...very little storage space..2 small drawers in desk. The bathroom is even worse. The sink is about 2.5 ft off the floor and there is no counter space at all. The TV is on the other side of the room from the bed...so much for watching TV in bed. I am thoroughly disgusted with this room since the lady from RCCL that recommended it knew how claustrophobic I am. Dinner at the Solarium Bistro was excellent. Lunch at the Cafe was ok however the soup barely Luke warm. Oh ya I want to mention they only have bars of soap no body wash which in this day and age seems odd. Also no wine glasses in room..no beach towels..no ice bucket and no towel animal tonight. Room service is twice a day. Internet seems adequate. Lots of people on electric scooters everywhere. Comedians tonight we're funny and not raunchy even though adult oriented. Great reggae band on deck today. Did I mention this ship is huge. Lots of bars and pools and casino is half no smoking...yea.. That's it for now need to sleep zumba in the morning.

What type of room are you in? We sailed on Oasis for the first time in April (CP balcony cabin) and although the room was on the smaller side, there was plenty of room in the closet and lots of shelves (although I could never function with more than two people in the cabin). Our bed was by the closet also and I'm pretty sure the TV pivots because we had no trouble watching it in bed. There wasn't a ton of counter space in the bathroom, but more shelves to store things.

Oasis is a very large ship. On a full sailing, there will be lots of people and lines for some of the popular things.

Accommodations below a Junior Suite level are tight on most mainstream lines - if you're claustrophobic then you'll probably feel a little anxious in most cruise ship cabins (not to mention the "space capsule" showers on Oasis).

Hopefully you'll be able to make the most of your vacation despite your initial impressions. I read everything I could on Oasis before sailing on the busiest Spring Break week of the year. I boarded with realistic expectations as far as having to deal with crowds of people on such a large ship, and was pleasantly surprised at how uncrowded most areas of ship felt. I rarely had to wait to board an elevator, or to get a table in the MDR. At the end of the cruise I concluded that while I did prefer a mid-sized ship, I enjoyed my week and was glad that I tried Oasis class.

Having the bed by the closet on Oasis and Allure is disliked by many for exactly the reasons you state. It makes the room feel small and really limits access to the closet.

You probably would have found that with having the bed by the balcony the room would have seemed larger and more open. It’s too bad that your rep did not know about the differences.

For future reference in case you ever decide to sail on an Oasis class ship the beds do alternate with every cabin. Both your neighbours have their Ned’s by the balcony. If you ask on her (many existing threads, or create a new one) there are many who can tell you the lobed location in a specific cabin.

We are in a balcony room and the travel rep from RCCL never mentioned another room she really pushed this one. We haven't had to wait much in any line though the ship is 100% full. I will make the most of the cruise but don't see me doing this one again. I think I prefer the midsized also. The ship is gorgeous and lots to do. Food so far has been good also. Plus and minuses.
