If time and money permitted why not do both since you are coming a long way from USA. You should be able to almost do back to back with only a short break in Sydney in between. Might have to mix and match cruise lines and ships but I think a double itinerary would be possible.
NSWP Posted October 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Certainly do both to justify the flight time and flight costs from USA. The NZ cruises and south pacific cruises are only fairly short ones anyway, couple of weeks each. Plenty of sailings if you are not too fussy which cruise line you want to travel on. Carnival, P&O, Princess, RCI and Celebrity all do regular sailings. If you do not want to be overrun by kids, stay away from January sailings - School holidays, also Easter. Above all enjoy. Thorpe Posted October 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2017 If you can only do one, do New Zealand. But it depends on your likes ............. what do you like to do ? See great sights, swim and snorkel, visit museums, the list is endless. Your preferences of what to do on holiday and your cruise line of choice will get a better range of answers more specific to your needs [emoji2] Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted October 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Both are gorgeous but quite different. NZ is towns and cities, Lord of the Rings locations, geothermal activity, wineries, museums, a good chance of seeing dolphins, spectacular scenic cruising through Fiordland, and cooler temperatures. The South Pacific is unspoilt islands, swimming/snorkelling, and warm to hot temperatures. If you have to choose only one I'd suggest the NZ cruise but doing both would be a great idea if you have the time.
