aprilsp88 Posted October 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Hi, My parents will take a cruise that embark and overnight in Quebec. They fly in the night before, arriving around 6PM. Where do you suggest them to stay? Airport or downtown hotel? They get the whole night after embarkation, but if the downtown nightlife is good, like south beach in Florida, or if the night view is good, like Victoria in Canada, then it's worth to find a downtown hotel. Is there any activity during the night there? Is it safe to walk outside? Also, when can they drop off their luggage the next morning? When does the pier open? Thanks, April
maryann ns Posted October 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2017 It is very safe to walk downtown at night. And it is a beautiful city at night. Try to find a place inside the wall.
Splinter Posted October 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I wouldn't stay by the airport. Nothing to do out there. There are a number of very nice boutique hotels in the Old Town areas of Quebec City, lots of restaurants and bars with music as well. You would have to check with the cruise line about how early luggage can be dropped off. We always check in later in the day to avoid the crush of those who feel they have to be first on the ship. They can check their baggage at their hotel, do some sight seeing, then return to their hotel and take a short cab ride with their luggage to check in at the pier. Also, be aware that there is no airport shuttle service in Quebec City. There is a set fare from the airport to the pier (or return) in a cab; but I don't know if such arrangements are made for any hotels. Check with the hotel they are considering. Rare martincath Posted October 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Downtown, 100% - the only reason to stay at the airport is cost (and if you have to come & go to get to downtown, unless you're willing to take public transit you'll end up spending more on cab fares than you saved!)
