Great photo. They look like paper wasps. I was stung last spring when I open the patio umbrella for the first time in months. They had built their nest right above the crank handle. When they saw my hand they went on the defense. Ouch!

It will soon be Mother's Day.

My backyard bird feeders attract predators too. I knew there were hawks living in the area but I was still shocked to see this guy on the ground not more that 30 feet from my patio door.

Anytime you have birds, neighborhood cats will soon come around.

During a brief visit to Texas, son Danny and I went to lunch at the Vegan hell known as the Corkscrew BBQ. There may be better reasons to

be a carnivore but great barbeque is good enough for me.
