cruiser123! Posted October 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2017 I read El Yunque is closed. Any thoughts on when it will be open to visit again? I'm not seeing a lot of info on it.

OCruisers Posted October 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Many of us would like to know. Has anyone seen anything of how damaged it was from the hurricane. While rain forest recover, it still could take a while ....
Aviator of the Seas Posted October 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2017 It's going to take weeks if not months to clear roads and hiking trails of debris. The forest is pretty much defoliated right now. But that's the cycle of nature. It will heal itself in under a year. In Puerto Rico, you throw a coconut on the ground, blink, and you'll have a palm tree already growing.

Hello Aviator Happy you weathered the Hurricane's. I like your analogy. :D Hubby n I visited San Juan last year and toured the Fort and San Juan. Was planning the Rain Forest this year but that's out. Carnival swapped our St Thomas and San Juan with Bahamas. :( Hoping it will change but doubtful. I guess we'll just have to plan for next year. So sorry your Beautiful Island is in such devastation.

Thank you for the information. We will not be in Puerto Rico until our 2019 cruise but are really looking forward to it. We plan on spending 3 days pre cruise and two post as there is so much we want to see and do.
