Seronade Of the sea Nov 13-17

Recommended Posts

Just back home from a fantastic cruise on the serenade. a Quickie cruise for myself, wife and son (53,53,23)

Arrived at Port Everglades about 1115 (used park n go)... Waited in embarkation line for almost 2 minutes... Then it was our turn... Then on to the ship... from offsite parking to walking on ship in less than 45 minutes... WOW.

This was the first sailing out of drydock and she looked gorgeous (Love the radiance classs)

Ate lunch in the windjammer.. and it was typical windjammer.. no wow but it will suffice.

Booked Giovanni's for first night (BOGO diamond plus coupon) and Chefs table for formal night.

Giovanni' was packed when we arrived at 830 and had 1 very unhappy toddler luckily that family was finishing dessert and we didn't have to deal with them.. Great food, great company and wonderful service... Day 1 setting the bar high for this cruise...(PS the oso bucco is fantastic)

Day 2 at sea...

The plan this cruise was stress free relaxation... Has been a crazy year and just wanted to chill.. todays plan Nothing.....

Had lunch in MDR. tutti salad and a hamburger.. then lost money in casino (I am good at loosing money)

watched a little tv then a nap... Rough day.. Met my son for a drink before Chefs table.....

Was a little concerned as we approached the chefs table Was told dress for chefs table was formal I wore a blazer and button down shirt (no Tie this trip) and was hoping I would be dressed OK. The gentleman who walked in before me had a dress shirt, shorts and flip-flops.. WOW......His outfit didn't ruin my dinner too each his own.... Dinner was fantastic..... another evening of good food, good conversation and great service..

Finished the evening in the pub drinking good scotch with my son... really enjoyed the guitar player this trip.

Day 3 Cozumel.

Went to Nachi Cocum. cab for 3 was 18 dollars each way.

Weather was perfect and the water looked like a postcard.... Clearest it has been in ages...Enjoyed fajitas with way to many margaritas. LOL.. spent the afternoon lounging in the pool enjoying life..

Dinner was in MDR... food was OK but excellent service and nice hanging with my family.

Finished the evening drinking scotch in the pub listening to music (I like this trend)

Day 4 another sea day,

Lunch in the MDR,, tutti salad and some sugar palm chicken that was excellent... Headed to the art auction (no judging I hate them but my wife loves them) I handled about 15 minutes then ran. Lost some more money in casino (has to be the tightest casino I have been in) I expect to loose but I like getting a little play for my entertainment dollar. My wife and I then watched Despicable Me 3 poolside then to dinner.

MDR for last night food OK..service great.

My Wife and I have been on over 50 cruises... Radiance class has always been our favorite and this cruise was top 5.... From passengers to crew we ran into the nicest people. Service top notch,, Capt Tor? really friendly

Only issue this cruise was to short... I hate 4 night cruises

Only show we did was late night comedy and loved it

sorry no pics as I am not tech savy

If any questions please ask and I will try to answer

Rick

Two questions...were there any discernible differences between pre and post drydock?

If you hadn't sailed on her recently I guess the answer would have to be no!

2nd question: what is sugar palm chicken?

New carpet in many places including hallways and cabins. The blue carpet in the Windjammer was new as the fuzzies were all over(from new carpet). The bathroom in our room (7174) had a new toilet and shower doors. The wood railing on our balcony did need a refinish though(yes, nit picking).

Agree with OP, the ship was overall very good looking.

First time on seronade (but have been on all radiance class ships).. It looked in great shape agree the railings could use a coat of varnish but salt air is very taxing on them

It was a grilled chicken breast over a slaw with a sweet spicy sauce.. It was very nice..

Lenny - thanks for your comments on the drydock changes. We will be in 7676, just two down from you, on December 4th. Hope if new bathroom fixtures were needed they will have been provided. I have a question - did you have any issues with noise from the nightclub just below the cabin?

Thanks, Pat

Pat, the only time we heard anything was on the night they had the "Quest" in the lounge. Could not really hear it that well, and it did not keep me from sleep.....Enjoy your trip. The bar is under your cabin, the stage and dance floor are farther forward.
