What to call her?

With Splendour of the Seas coming over next year, what name would suit this new addition to the Thomson fleet?

We did this last year.:)

I think we decided on Thomson Bliss. Am I right?

But we could always do a new poll..........any excuse!!

I doubt they'll use Splendour, although it isn't horrible... Only Majesty kept it's pre-Thomson name. I think, Especially as Splendour of the Seas is well patronized by the Brits at the moment, it would be wise to rebrand it.

I have come up with three names. I am not sure about them but here goes:

Thomson Pollution

Thomson Tsunami

Thomson Titanic

No, now that I share them with others I am beginning to think they lack the required image to represent the Thomson Brand. Perhaps I will give this some more thought.

Seriously though, this looks like it is the first step of many in lifting the Thomson Brand. I have looked at some of the online videos. It is obvious that some of the things that Royal Carribean do would not suit Thomson. I recall an Assistant Cruise Director who said the only way they could get Thomson passengers to climb a rock wall would be to put a buffet at the top. The golf thing might work and a variety of restaurants would not be a bad thing. Thomson has never really got its Indian food right so this might be the chance to install and Indian that is just like the ones back home.

I would give it a go. Let's face it, it's a far better prospect than a converted car ferry.

Are you on the right thread Eleanor? :D:D

It sounded like a totally off the wall comment, Linda, :D but it was a follow on to the possible changes to the Splendour dining arrangements

Okay, back to the name :)

Still thinking about it

I think it will stay as Splendour.....at one time Louis was going to buy NCL Dawn for Thomson, but it fell through and so they bought Costa Europa instead, but kept the Dawn name....majesty also stayed from NCL, so unless RCI want to use Splendour again, I think it will stay. RCI will still part own it, won't they?

Thomson Splendour is nice. Would also like Thomson Endevour, Thomson Bliss or Thomson Village would also work for me.

But the way Thomson are going 'easyCruise Three' would be much more fitting.

The "Thomson, What Happened To The Rest Of The Casino ?"

Sorry, I'm getting silly now with the names... But I get the strongest feeling that they are going to turn most of the 6,500 square foot Vegas-style casino area into a new Sports Bar, Kids Club or seating areas, (Island Escape, Dream & Majesty style).

Wish they would leave the casinos full size. Other cruise lines make it much easier for people like myself to willingly subsidise the more sensible cruiser.:o

Hi darling. I broke the news on this very subject yesterday.

there will be NO rock climbing wall, and the Casino will be made smaller.

Unless you can reference your source material, your breaking news has no merit.

News networks normally have to have two official sources before running a story.

I agree, I think the casino will be reduced, British people just don't have the same passion for gambling as Americans.

The location of the Casino on Splendour is adjacent to the pub/piano bar, it would make sense to enlarge that and maybe even, as someone suggested earlier, have a food offering in the pub.

The rock-climbing wall..... That could go either way, but it has been mentioned in the press releases..

I have no doubt as to the fact that Thomsons will make the casino smaller, as I mentioned they have plenty of past form for it.

But my question is why?? ... Every time I go on an NCL ship I meet fellow Brits forced off Brit cruise lines in order to find a decent casino. It appears that the big U.S. cruise lines look to make most of their profits from the casino.

................ However I can exclusively reveal that the climbing wall is definitely staying at the request of the Thomson ships doctor who is in line to make a few bob out of it :D
