nb125 Posted February 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2018 Has anyone checked out the price on this. Seems a bit steep for a balcony even for Fred. :D Sorry there should have been a photo with that, price for two in a balcony cabin £1,783,974.

Coravel Posted February 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2018 It's because inflation has risen.
tring Posted February 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2018 Quite a bit of inflation to get a Fred cruise to 1.7 million pounds +. You may have miss read that figure, or was it a joke :) Has anyone looked closely at the itineraries for those cruises. Very few port days for the length of the cruises, perhaps that is to be another cutback by Fred. Less port fees and less fuel as well if it means the ships can travel more slowly. If that is the way he is going then we would never be interested in another Fred, no matter how unusual an itinerary may be. At present more land holidays are what we have in the pipeline and the one cruise we have booked is P&O fly to the Med to maximise the ports to cost ratio

You may have miss read that figure, or was it a joke :) It was a joke! :DI'm afraid the Four Ships idea doesn't excite us at all. We once had a three ships experience at the Faroe Islands with the Braemar, Black Watch and Boudicca sailing three abreast. When we were in port everyone was allowed to visit all three ships but there were no special events apart from a total eclipse of the Sun. Which was why we went.

Not that I know anything about the respective economics of ratio of sea days to port calls - but presumably a port day uses no fuel, therefore that would balance out the cost of berthing fees ?
