Celebrity Infinity or Ruby Princess for British Isles?

We are going to do the British Isles next year and are keying in on 2 choices Ruby Princess or Celebrity Infinity. We have never sailed either line. I know as D+ we are automatically enrolled as Elite on Celebrity. But all else being equal what are your thoughts between the 2?

I'm looking at this itinerary too..

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I would choose by best value. We have been on both ships. Ruby was a 12 day Med but we did the Crown (sister ship) to the British Isles.

I would love to do this cruise again on either ship. I'm not sure what the passenger/space ratio is, but on the Infinity my DH said to me, "Where is everyone?" on a sea day because it just didn't appear that crowded (Alaska, July 2012).

I get bored with the MDR. On the Infinity you have SS United States, Quisine, and Bistro on 5. On the Ruby you have Sabatini's and the Crowne Grill.

Again, I think either would be great. Since you would be Elite on X that may sway me on that direction.

Have a wonderful time on whichever you pick--and pace yourself, there is so much to see and do on this cruise.

I haven't cruised Princess, but one of the big differences between the two upscale lines is that non-smoking policy of Celebrity extends to cabin balconies and all inside spaces including the casino. From what I can see on Princess' website, the Ruby is newer than Infinity and larger, I'm not sure how that affects your decision but wanted to point it out.

We are also looking at doing a British Isles cruise in August or Sept 2014. I like the Celebrity 14 night, but just started looking. We have never done Celebrity, and our first Princess cruise is next year.

I will do my research, but I don't know . . . I was looking at the Concierge class. Is it worth it over the Veranda class? It's a long way over and a long time on the ship, so I don't want to pinch pennies too much, but also realize we won't be in the cabin as much without many sea days. The 11 night also looks good. Ah, ain't it wonderful to think about!?

Being Scottish, it is highly unlikely that I will ever cruise around the British Isles, however, my wife and I have sailed on both cruiselines and enjoyed both. I would base your decision on whichever itinerary you prefer.

I have not sailed on Princess but was on the Infinity last year for an Alaska Cruise, I thought the buffet was cramped and was surprised at how much wear and tear our CC room showed with the ship recently coming out of a minor refurb there were rust stains on the metal side on our balcony, we had a hump and the bathroom thresholds were in a need of a touch up. That said no smoking is a major thing for me, ( just start to sneeze) so any line that has just a few designated smoking areas is not for me , no matter ship, itinerary or price.

So for me my rule of thumb other things being equal I pick the newer ship.
