Rare dickinson Posted January 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2018 We will need a cab from the cruise port to our hotel, Blue Horizon, and then the next day to go to the airport. Is it safe to pay the cab with a credit card or do we need to purchase Canadian dollars? Everything else we will use a credit card. Thanks. Rare martincath Posted January 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Safe? As in 'safe to assume you will be able to'? Yes - an occasional cabbie will try the 'my machine is broken' angle, but even if it's legit broken they'll all take US cash too (although at a less-than-official exchange rate). If you mean 'is it safe or will my card data be stolen?' then I haven't heard of any scams involving card skimmers and cabs.
Rare dickinson Posted January 20, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks. Yes, I meant safe to mean I don't want my cc data to be stolen. Thanks again for the info.
xlxo Posted January 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I have never heard of credit card stolen from a cab company. Just let the cab driver know you plan to pay by card before he loads the luggage. get another cab if he does not want your card in the old days.... the driver can call dispatch to process a card. Not sure if it's still true today.
