Momma8 Posted October 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2017 We will be on Celebrity's February 18, 2018 cruise with a stop in Grand Cayman island. Can anyone suggest a tour of the island not including snorkeling or diving? We are two couples and are interested in seeing the island with maybe a short beach stop. Thank you
Sandtrap328 Posted October 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Actually, Grand Cayman does not offer much in the way of land tours. It is mainly a desert island. There is the Turtle Farm. No big deal and turtles are raised for food. Forget that! There is a tourist trap called Hell. A local dressed like Satan and you can send postcards to friends from Hell. Forget that! Go swimming with the stingrays! You are in waist to chest deep water on a huge sandbar. You feed enormous Southern stingrays from your hand. It is completely safe. The stingrays are amazing and you will see this creature in an entirely new light.
Mynki Posted October 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Another vote for stingray city. Even if you can't swim the water is only waist to chest. I'd also recommend it. I also agree that a visit to hell isn't that good.
Momma8 Posted October 19, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Thank you. We have visited before and have done the Sting Ray city tour two times. Agree, it is wonderful! We are thinking maybe there are some private tours that some cruisers have done. Although, we usually like to stick to ship sponsored excursions, if someone could recommend a private tour that would be great. Thanks again. Rare hcat Posted October 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2017 What about the botanical garden with the blue iguanas?
cb at sea Posted October 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Grand Cayman isn't a "desert" island...but you're right about tours. Simply hop on the bus and go around! A guidebook would be VERY helpful, so you'll know what you want to see and do! 7 Mile Beach is adjacent to the tender dock...a bus can take you there and back. The more you know about where you're going, the better your time will be.
