Rare pierces Posted October 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2018 Pictures taken between Monday, October 1 and Sunday, October 7. Rules: See above That's it. This isn't a contest. All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising). Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize. The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays. Post one. Post many. Up to you. Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2018 It is hard to believe that it is October already. And we still have some hibiscus blooming.

boeckli Posted October 4, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2018 'Guardian' of the fish-pond ;) You can see him at the top of this shot (which I took before the one above, without realising he was there) Colourful pond inhabitants

Rare pierces Posted October 8, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted October 8, 2018 This week marked Matthew's first flag football game. With only three or so practices into an entirely new sport, he was excited but a little concerned. This shot was taken a few minutes before kickoff as he contemplates the opposition gathering downfield. I said “contemplates” but really meant “overthinks”. He is a smart kid. Brilliant actually. Academics are a breeze and he plays video games way above his age. He is not, however, a natural athlete so sports are an unfamiliar challenge. The game went well but he didn’t do as well as he wanted (by a long shot). Challenges are good for the soul but suck when you are struggling in the middle of one. tommui987 Posted October 8, 2018 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2018 I like it! Three or so practices isn't much. I'm sure with time it will become more instinctive.
zackiedawg Posted October 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2018 Yay! I can go back and post weekly wildlife stuff again in these threads! Here are a few taken for this weekly period: Staring down a green iguana: A distant red-shouldered hawk up in a tree: A migrating bird, one of the first for 'winter', an American Redstart: A young black-crowned night heron hanging out in the water: A pig frog who had just jumped out of the water inches away from the gaping maw of a softshell turtle who tried to eat him:
