viking vs oceania or other river cruise

Hello jeanrtco,

comparing Viking vs Oceania I am sure experienced cruisers will be happy to do for you very soon. They are such a helpful lot. :)

For the Seine you do not have many choices as regards ports as most river cruise lines do the same ones but what can differ and what could influence your decision is where your ship docks. The 135m ships (Viking and Arosa for example) are not allowed into Paris and dock in LePecq. A couple of companies can go as far as Honfleur, i.e. the Seine estuary, Viking cannot.

If I look at this from a different angle, though, I read that you want to go to Paris but not necessarily be on the Seine. If this is the case you can fly into Paris to do one of the itineraries heading East. Viking has "Paris to the Swiss Alps" for example: https://www.vikingrivercruises.com/cruise-destinations/europe/paris-swiss-alps/2018-paris-zurich/index.html

If you are happy to tell us more about you like: if traveling solo, age (range), activity level, interests, I am sure past cruisers will come up with even more ideas for you.

Tauck is also excellent. Truly all inclusive, upscale experience and several options include Paris pre or post. Boats are small enough to dock in the city. My second Tauck tour in May is Versailles, boat from Paris to Normandy and back, train to London for 3 days. Amsterdam to Budapest 2016 was wonderful. Whatever you decide have a great trip.
