charden Posted December 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2017 We are considering this cabin for our May 2018 cruise. It is listed as Modified Accessible. I use an electric scooter and I need a room where I can store and charge it. If you have stayed in this room with your scooter could you tell me if you were able to get through the door and how crowded the room was. The travel specialist at Carnival assured me that there was enough room, but I would like to here from someone who stayed there. I do not need the scooter to get around the room, into the bathroom, or onto the balcony.
SadieN Posted December 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) Which ship? A modified HC Cabin is basically a regular cabin with grab bars in the bathroom. The door is regular width, approx 21”wide when the door is open. The scooter needs to be stored in the cabin. The rental companies have scooters that’ll fit thru the doorway. Look on this link for Cabin amenities https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/special-needs.aspx Edited December 17, 2017 by SadieN
mgoswartz Posted December 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2017 I would check eith them about a ledge going into the bathroom. My wife is also in a scooter so that is something we always look for. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
cb at sea Posted December 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2017 The OP says they can walk once in the cabin, so the step into the bath shouldn't be an issue.
charden Posted December 18, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted December 18, 2017 It is the Carnival Pride. It is one of the few ships that are not on the link provided above. When I called Carnival they told me that my scooter could be up to 22" wide but I just wanted to know how easy it was to maneuver into the room from someone who has done it. lsshere Posted December 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Had this room before, you will not have a problem. Enjoy:D
charden Posted March 13, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 13, 2018 Thanks, Linda. I did book this cruise and this room. Fully accessable rooms are so hard to book unless you do it 2 years out and at 71 years old that is a stretch.
