Onboard Credit

I just went into my cruise planner and there is a message that my onboard credit is now available to use. It gives me a dollar value that I don't understand. Is there a way to find out what this onboard credit is? I have bought some but its a lot more than is showing, a lot!

How can I find out?

If you booked through a travel agent, then ask the travel agent to look into it for you.

If you booked directly with Royal Caribbean, you will have to call Royal Caribbean yourself. Good luck with that.

This is where a travel agent comes in handy.

You can contact whoever booked your cruise and ask them to send you Royal's Guest Copy of your booking confirmation. It should show your Royal OBC.

Wish cruise critic had a like button! Thank you both, I'll call my TA. Its unfortunate that you can't pull that information up from the cruise planner. :(

Too complicated for Royal's IT people. They have their hands full removing functionality from the booking part of the website.

I wish you booked thru a TA, then gave you free OBC. Call them, if not, call RCCL.

There is another thread going that some Oasis sailings you can you use a RCCL OBC on your cruise planner and pre-purchase. Sounds like a trial.

That's exactly what mine is, OBC that they are saying I can use to pre-purchase on an Oasis sailing. Mine is showing up in Canadian funds (we booked in Canadian) so I'm thinking its a $200 US OBC showing as $264 Canadian.

I haven't called yet but I had an issue with RCCL and they said they were going to apply an OBC for $200 so I think that may well be what it is, converted to Cnd.

Is that the $$$ value you were saying in your original post?

Yes. In my original post I had a $264 Cnd credit and had no clue what it was. I have purchased $2000 USD OBC myself so that amount made no sense however the more I thought about it I realized that it was probably the OBC that was gifted to us by customer service for an issue I was having. The amount would make sense.

Do you need to be X days before sailaway to use or even have it show up? I've got nothing showing. I remember an earlier topic about this and it was basically the same advice, check with my TA.

Only certain sailings on Oasis seem to be getting the opportunity to use OBC pre-cruise. No pattern has been reported yet as to number of days before the cruise.

I posted on another thread that I had a pop-up when I logged into My Cruises earlier this week. We sail on 10/15. Here is the picture...

For anyone who is interested, if you look at the above picture, right in between the 'order history' and the 'cart' icons at the top of the page there is now a 'credit' icon. This shows you the amount of OBC that you have to use even before you go into your purchases.

Hope I explained that well. Just look closely at the picture, the very top of it.

What happens if you don't use all your OBC. We have $350 but have already prepayed all are dinning. I don't think we will spend that much since we don't drink much.

Depends on the type of OBC.

If it's refundable OBC, it will automatically be credited back to the credit card used to secure your onboard account. You also have the option to request a cash refund on the last night of the cruise.

Non-refundable OBC is lost. However, you can go to the casino and withdraw cash against your onboard account at any time, for a fee of 5%.
