Just made our final payment and trying to find other adventurous travelers who will be joining us on this trip. Anybody out there?

So exciting - just got our final docs and we leave NJ 2 weeks from Friday. Anyone else on CC on this trip?:D

While I am not on your adventure; I am trying to plan a trip to the Antartic for 2013. I would really appreciate if you would post some of your trip either during or after. Seeing reviews with details such as the life on the ship and excursions will help me (and I bet others) decide what type of adventure they want to take. Have a great time.

Will do MJ!. Probably have to post after the trip as internet time from way down under is rather costly! Let's hope for calm seas and great landings.

Hey QDaN, I board the Silver Explorer in Ushuaia on 1/13 - 1/30. Our cruises look to be quite similar. Hope you have a great adventure!! I am getting very excited, also.

Maybe we will pass each other at sea - LOL

I wish you both fair winds and following seas. We sail on the Silver Explorer on January 30. NCCruzQueen, we will be boarding as you are leaving.

DPWnRBW, You have a few more days to wait than I do. I'm getting nervous now that I have a week to go. Got lots of chores to accomplish this week.... it's a long list.

The Drake was a piece of cake - we were very lucky with weather with the exception of a bit of swell when leaving South Georgia. Twenty seven landings in all!!! Hope to get a review up-our excellent ship and staff deserve it.

Welcome home, QofDN, So glad to hear your cruise was was. Looking forward to your review. Of our 17 days we had 16 zodiac rides/landings, including stepping foot on Elephant Island. Spectacular trip. We also had swells when we left South Georgia and definitely the Drake Lake. How lucky for us!!!

Beth - Wasn't that great to land on Elephant Island? It was the first time for one of our guides who is a HUGE Shackleton admirer and has been by Point Wild many times but never when there were good landing conditions. Definitely a high point of the trip for many of us.

QofDN, How neat that you all got to land on Point Wild as well. Our expedition leader, who has been been in Antarctica for 10 years, stepped foot on Elephant Island for the first time during our cruise. He was ecstatic. That is a lot of landings! We had swells between the Falklands and South Georgia and Drake Lake!
