Anyone recent cruisers play the new machines in the casino?

Hugely popular on the Splendor last month. The Vault (I think that's what it's called) looks deceptively easy, but of course it's not. I saw one gentleman win an iPad and $500 cash, but most people (my son included) walked away empty handed.

there was talk about these new machines in the casino that u can win an ipad or 500 cash and other prizes. anybody on recent cruises play any of these machines and how much to play and how hard to win. i hear they draw a big crowd.

It is a real simply game, sort of like slots for me.... insert $$$, move handle and then walk away emply handed :). Actually is was fun and only cost $1 but it looks so easy we played 8 or 10 times. Didnt win anything (sort of like slots for me).

Yes, it’s the vault. Looks soooo easy but many people walked away empty handed. It costs $1.00 to play and you have to line up a key to the keyhole to win. The prizes are $100, $200 and an ipod and $500.

I did see a few people win – including one lady that put a $5.00 bill in and won the ipad and $500 on her FIRST try.

I put at least $20 in that thing and didn't win anything. One person got $200 in $5s out of it, nothing else dropped. It's kind of like playing Operation but with all the disappointment of one of the crane machines mixed in. Fun to watch but virtually impossible to win.

2 People won I-Pads + $500 last month on the Conquest. The 2nd winner 'sold' the I-pad back to the ship.

There is a joystick to move the 'key' back and forth...this is the 'easy' part. Then a 'button' you push to raise the key. When it is lined up with the target (which is actually a rectangular opening) you let go of the button and the key moves forward to see if it makes it through the opening. Usually is stopped at the top or bottom edge. Easier said than done. There was a constant line of people willing to try their luck.

Is a pretty good spectator activity. The body language some people display is quite entertaining!

The Sensation had it on our cruise in December. There was always a crowd watching - it was suspenseful to watch but it did not look like anyone was winning much. The casino was tough on this cruise. I am used to winning a bit at the slots. The first two nights of the cruise were tough and I found myself donating my hard earned cash. I got lucky on the third night. With just $10 left to spend, I inserted the bill into the machine, pushed the button and won $160. I cashed out and went up for ice cream! :D

I won and Ipad and $500 on Christmas day on the Magic. Fun game. Kind of like those claw games to get a stuff animal except you have to put a key in the hole. I bet they won all there money back from my win in a couple of hours. After I won you couldnt get to the machine

does anyone have any pics and is it really only a dollar? and if its in the casino how can it be availble 24/7

I *think* its considered an arcade game, plus its placed outside the entrance of the casino. Yes, its just 1 dollar, and you cant use your S&S card to play.

I did a video, but didnt get a good shot of it.

Found this short clip on youtube, if I find a better shot I will post it.This is a side view of the game.

This is a better video

yeah! i won the iPad 2 + $500, but gave the iPad 2 back and they gave me $500 for it. it was the 13th of Jan, and on my 13th dollar i won. there is usually 10-20 people around this machine at any given time. i got to it at 2am, only 1 person at it when i won. i still felt like a king, though, walking around withthe empty box with $500 taped to it, bc everyone in the casino knows about the iPad machine. only 4 people won an ipad during our 7 day cruise.

i believe there is a micrometer in the machine that reduces the chance to win. i believe that even if you get it right on, that the machine rolls and adds a mm to the stroke, denying the user the win. its in the casino. odds are always-ALWAYS-in the favor of the casino. cant beat a man at his own trick.

I was on the Legend cruise January 8th. They say that one girl won six of the ipads and $500. She didn't want the ipad so they gave her $1000 instead; $6,000. I did see one person win a stack of the $100's. I tried a few times; no luck. I think because this peron won so many times, towards the end of the trip, the machine said "temporarily out of order." And it never was back in order. Lucky her.

That's what I was thinking, that there is something a little rigged. I think the machine is set to pay off every so often. Because you'd see people get so close, and it seemed like the key would drop just a bit or raise just a bit. You are one of the lucky ones.

They dont really have to rig it....you just have to place the key in the exact spot or you wont win. That alone is a feat in itself.
