Car Rental FLL to Port Everglades

Could someone please tell me the car rental companies that offer either a free shuttle to the port or has a rental location at the port?

This is the first time we are going to rent a car before a cruise (just 1 day). We are planning on picking it up at FLL (airport) and either returning it by the port or taking a free shuttle from rental company to the port.

We have used Budget at FLL then dropping it off at the closest location to Port Everglades which is on 17th Street.

Also have used Thrifty/Dollar (which is just out side the PE terminal gate) on Miami Road...There are no rental locations inside PE.

Each of these companies have a free to port shuttle.

Price out each to get the best rate...I would avoid having to return the car back to FLL. You may also consider when pricing to be flexible...we have at times taken a $12.00 taxi from FLL to the Thrifty/Dollar to pick up the car and return it to that same location...when the price was right...remember FLL airport fees can make the difference.

If you are a Costco member price your car rental through them ..we've gotten a great rate this way.

Why not rent from FLL and return the vehicle there . Then just take a taxi to the port.

The shuttle might have to do all the terminals to drop people off.

I'm not a Costco member but I am a Sam's Club member - I wonder if they have the same type of discounts?

How much is the taxi from FLL to port?

Is Budget, Thrifty/Dollar the only companies that have a free shuttle to Port Everglades?

I think National and Alamo have a free shuttle from FLL.

I will try calling the ones mentioned and see if they offer the free shuttle. Prices are not too bad for when we need it so even if we need to pay $12 to get us to the port it would be worth it.

We just rented a mid size car through Avis for our upcoming Oasis Cruise....I rented through priceline, but called Avis directly and they do have a shuttle to port.:cool:
