simkoreb Posted April 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Hi. Just wondering how crowded stingray city is with 7 ships in port. I'm not a big fan of crowds, but would love to do it again.
annagregg Posted April 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Depends - what time are you planning to go?
brucejr Posted April 25, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2004 If you are not a big fan of crowds, I'd pass. With 7 ! ships in port, there will be more than 30 boats at the stingray sandbar. Unless there is a strong north wind, in which case most of the sting ray trips will be canceled and Georgetown will be a complete ZOO. if there's a way to construe my post as non-argumentative, please do so. Cruise photos on my Home page Spring Break was on the Grand Princess 21, March 2004 So when is the next cruise? Hootsie Posted April 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2004 We were there with 7 ships in port. Yea, the stingray sandbar was busy, but we had a blast! Plenty of stingrays for everyone. They weren't that hungry after a while, but love people so much, they just hung around. Family Cruise on the Paradise: 04/04/
Suzanne123 Posted April 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2004 We were there last week with at least 7 ships in port. I counted 17 boats at Sting Ray City with perhaps several hundred people. It was depressing. Several years ago we went and had stingrays all around us waiting to be fed. This time, we barely saw a few with all the people and commotion. I think they are going to have to limit the number of boats per hour or something. I can't believe those stingrays can take that kind of abuse for very long. simkoreb Posted April 29, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Thanks for all your advice and answers. I'm just going to skip it this year because it will be way too crowded. I don't even know how they're going to tender everyone it, when I was looking at the website for docking, almost every ship will be arriving at the same time too. Should be an interesting day!! JustPlayHockey21 Posted May 23, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2004 The Sensation and Imagination will be the only ships in port on the 31st. All info taken from the Cayman Island Port Authority Cruise Ship Schedule. We lucked out too as there are only three ships in port when we are there on June 9th, ours (Voyager), and also the Sensation and Imagination.
