Celebrity on a cruise?

Actually had a coctail with Billy Squire (80's Rock) on the Fantasy in 2005. Great guy...saw him a couple times and we talked baseball of all things.

This wasn't a cruise, but I used to a manager for Goodwill Industires of Greater Detroit. Fred Grandy (Gopher from the Love Boat) Became president of Goodwill International and visted each Goodwill to meet with all the aministration. I was very suprised, he was a very artculate and intelligent man. My first thought was they hired him as a figure head, but he really knew his stuff.

Have you ever seen a celebrity on a cruise?

Does Hulk Hogan count as a celebrity? He wasn't on one of my cruises, but I watched an episode of Hogan Knows Best where they sailed on the Imagination 5 night Western Caribbean cruise. They had the Owner's Suite.

Last month at the airport on my way to the Carnival Freedom I saw rapper

Lil Kim in the ladies room and Anthony Bourdain from the travel channel at the ticket counter. He took a picture with us, he is very tall.

Shes out of jail??

I like Bourdain, he is so funny!

Diane Carroll was on the Soveriegn of the Seas with us many years ago. She was the rudest, nastiest Diva ever, yelling at people who came in late at her show, and just generally behaving rudely. Funny how you remember those things.

Randy...You are so correct about Fred. That's what put him in Congress. I was fortunate enough to be the "voice" for Goodwill in 1984, 1985 for all public service messages for radio stations. I met Fred early on in his involvement with Goodwill. What a class act.

Celebrity.... I thought that was a cruise line..... I don't know if I consider him a celebrity but I was on Princess when they filmed the stock footage for the "New" Love Boat with Robert Urich (Dan Tanna and Spencer for Hire). They had a hundred or so "babes" that they would stage pool shots etc. All week there were areas by the pool and in other public areas that they roped off from us lowly paying passengers. It was a hassle but then the show was a miserable flop. I guess most sequels are.

Last year we were on a RCL cruise with the man that owns the Men's Wearhouse stores - I don't know his name but I recognized him from the commercials and pictures. Everyone was pointing and he'd just smile and wave.

I also ran (literally) smack into Apollo Anton Ohno at the SLC airport the last time I was there. Nice guy, verrrrry short!

We saw Charlie Weis at the AA gate counter while waiting for our return flight in San Juan. DH about wet himself and he's neither a Patriots nor a Notre Dame fan. Before I pick on him too much, his dream job has always been to be a college level or pro coach. :)

We sailed on the Spirit in Dec 07 and the subway dude Jarod was on board with his groupies. I don't consider him a celebrity but he is very easily recognizable.

Ah, but did ya catch him at the buffet?

Many , many moons ago, on the Regal Empress, I got to know Sammy Davis Jr's sister. What a lovely woman. I also had a nice conversation with Mary Wilson from the Supremes. She was the talent on Sovereign of the Seas in the early 90's.

Last year I was on a doowop cruise with several members of some doowop groups. Doing this same this upcoming may. I don't know if that really counts, though, when you're going on the cruise knowing that the talent is going to be there. ;)

We were in Atlanta on our way to Miami and saw Richard Petty get off a flight at the gate we were waiting at. It was night and dark and he got off the plane with his hat and sunglasses on. And he and an assistant moved very quickly thru the terminal. On board the ship we saw Alan Thicke who performed.

Oddly enough I did!! He was a few people behind me in the "burger line" but He left I guess he got tired of waiting. A few minutes later after We got our food we ended up sitting very close to his table and yeah he was eating a deli sandwich, can you believe it??

We were on the Carnival Freedom in Europe last July and Judge Judy was on our ship with her family, just a regular passenger like anyone else. My daughter used to work for TSA and often saw celebrities. No big deal for her but I liked hearing her stories.

Hi, I was fooled by the Stevie Wonder trick too. On the Valor in December, they brought "Stevie Wonder" out on stage after much secretive fanfare about a "very special guest". The guy really looked like him and I was totally convinced. After the show, others told me that they've run the Stevie trick frequently on Carnival. The next day, I even asked the Cruise Director's assistant if it was an impersonator, and she winked at me. It was a great impersonator -- he had me fooled for a whole day!

I have a niece that works at one of the major Casinos in Las Vegas. She is in charge of guest services for VIP guests. She can tell unbelievable stories. None of the celebrities want to pay for anything. And they usually do get comped on everything.
