Crew parties in passenger venues??

I am fascinated by this thread. I have long been impressed by the cruise line-specific advocacy I have seen on Cruise Critic, but here I'm seeing industry advocacy, people who are unwilling/unable to accept negative comments about any line, not even their favorite.

If the OP posted a strongly negative review of an entire cruise I could understand ignoring or discounting their perspective, or pointing out that overwhelming negativity brings into question their entire review. That isn't the case here. He/she described a generally pleasant trip marred by this one event, yet many respondents have attacked them for expressing their discontent.

The "critic" part of Cruise Critic feels like a misnomer in this thread.

understandably so Eurocruiser ..it is evident OP has been ousted as I see it I have looked carefully at the comments left by OP and she/he has said remarkably nice things about the company. I feel at the time the OP felt let down at a Company who claims to treat its passengers in a special way and as various posts have indicated entertainment was warrented in the cruise fare.

Alot of the replies back have appeared most harsh. The OP did also defend the crew in many comments and was more so interested in the entertainment aspect which can indeed be important to many cruising community.

I can certainly appreciate the OP was declined entrance to a venue they had enjoyed before, but they do have to understand the event was posted in advance and marked as private.

We cruised once in Alaska and a large group was onboard, they were very nice people. However, several of the public venues were closed to us because of them for the entire week. I did complain about it on our comment card...never heard from Celebrity. We got over it, yet I would never want to cruise on a ship hosting a large group again, regardless of the type of group...doesn't matter.

I've attended a couple of weddings onboard cruise ships, they only last a few hours and unless you are cruising you have to leave the ship by 3-4 pm. You would not believe the amount of people trying to crash these weddings, although there is a sign at the door marked private function. Fortunately, the staff escorts these people out the door, much like they did with the OP.

We're the type that would probably be happy for the crew to have a party such as this. They work long hard hours, more than most of us would ever know. I do know they have parties below deck, in their own space, but this sounds like it was a very special celebration. We'd just find something else to do, more than likely we'd be asleep by then anyway ;)

I have no idea why the OP has waited so long to post this story, can you answer that?

thankyou Happy ks for your reasonable response

well I had not actually been very active on cruise Qs before

there is no real reason I understand this post has caused some controversy especially with several folks willing to come at it again and again.

at the time none of us had in mind that we would as others have described gatecrashed anyones party as the nightclub was extremely large with many a spare space to sit away.and we were obviously let in to begin with..and it is unfortunately a term which has been used loosely in this thread. gatecrashed ..I have written an honest account of feelings as a customer. I am over it I had been wondering if anything factual or a similar experience posted but the negatives came flying ! I am more concerned at the way in which some folks have replied as an attack.

that type of behaviour is not encouraging to anyone.

kind thanks again that is all I can probably add to your Q.

My opinion/comment since the OP asked.

Yes, I have seen a function for cruise staff. I believe it was on a Princess cruise. They closed off a covered pool area and served a buffet meal and drinks. They handed out rewards to top performers.

I happened to see the party breaking up and my wait staff from the dining room saw me and commented that it was a great event. That they got to see what the other side was like, i.e. using the facilities instead of serving and maintaining them. they enjoyed it very much because it broke up the monotony of their term of service. And yes we had just been shoooed away from the area by security when the event ended.

So my comment is to ASSUME that the event was needed and helpful to the staff you liked and let go the negative thoughts. Cruise on, happily.

You do have to understand this is a public forum and you are not going to always get the responses you think you will. I don't take things so personal on a public message forum, so I never consider myself "attacked", if I did I doubt I'd ever want to be a part of it, this sort of forum is not for the sensitive type of person. I have no idea why you thought you could post a thread like this and not get a variety of responses.

While I can understand both sides of the story I really don't know why this is still bothering you so much that you return to it months later.

Are you trying to ask the cruise line for some sort of compensation? Or an apology? Or, are you just trying to look for sympathy from others and are upset because not everyone agrees with you?

I have 2 suggestions for you #1 is you is write to the cruise line itself and be prepared to wait a few months for an answer. However, the answer you may get from them will probably not satisfy you, either. #2 is to drop the whole thing and move on with your life, it's just not that big of a deal to carry on your shoulders for so long. Anger gets us nowhere and is a drain on what could otherwise be a happy life.

thankyou happy Ks the thing is its obvious there is something eating at many of the people who have replied, one poster said that they had been watching the thread carefully from the beginning and this was obvious that the thread was attacking.

I think its all about the Crew aspect which I portrayed in the original post.

which was not in any way intended to reflect on the crew who were infact most delightful people.

Therefore the negativity where even to be called a troublemaker.

which is absolute nonsense.

Im not naive exactly, Ive highlighted a part of your post above and Im not sure where I said everyone will be on my side.?

Its getting to be enough now dont you think? Ive looked at many many threads myself where people defend themselves or add comments and they are permitted to ...just like some people posting might keep coming at a thread again and again. Theres no difference.

compenasation ?are you kidding?? why even mention it !! You have to see with your own eyes this thread has extended to one of controversy and even Im feeling its interesting to see the way it has progressed.

I dont care for rude people who come at things again and again...do you think I was ever going to get a reasonable outcome dealing with 'some' of the folks on this board. Ive seen other members be treated in a similar way or dictated to by some members in other threads on msg boards.

Its funny ..those people might criticise the OP but then they keep going for it until it is supposed to hurt or something !

Yes I agree with you it has to be expected on a public forum.

all of you have had your say again and again and I am permitted to comment or reply.

Happy cruising lets all wish for better days friendly smiles and smooth sailings ahead.

Cheers thankyou
