Is there a shuttle or bus from the port at Kahului, Maui, to Lahaina? We are going to be there in February on the POA and would like to spend some time seeing Lahaina on our own without renting a car.

I don't believe so. You need to rent a car or take a taxi. (I beleve).

I did find a map with bus routes for Maui on line. I guess now I just have to find out where to "catch" the bus in Kahului.

Take the shopping shuttle from the pier to Queen Emma Shopping Center. Then ask at the shopping center where to catch the bus to Lahaina.

NCL offers a bus/coach to Lahaina but for the cost you could get a car for the day & stop off at, for example, Maalaea & see the aquarium, go to Lahaina, have lunch, go on up to Kaanapali & Whalers Village & beach (restaurants there too) and so on.

 

If you're in Lahaina on a weekend there's frequently a big arts & craft display under the Banyan Tree in Lahaina; craft fair behind the Lahaina post office on Sundays as well. Wailuku "swap meet" really close to the harbour on Saturdays.

 

Then there's "upcountry", Kula, Makawao, Olinda etc:D
