Will we be able to do much in St Vincent on Easter Sunday?

First time in the Caribbean and unsure of what to do

Is it wise to try and do your 'own thing' on St Vincent on Easter Sunday, or will everything be closed?:(

Is this a good island for beaches or is it better to do sight seeing?

Can you pre-organise for just two people for a taxi or a boat trip, or must you have a group of people first:(

Can anybody make any recommendations please or would it be better to do the tours offered by the cruise ship :confused:

How do you find out if there will be any other cruise ships there on that day?

St. Vincent is a bit of a different port then some of the other islands you will visit. There isn't much around the pier area, and the town isn't much to speak of either. Personally, I would look at either booking a private tour or one through the ship.

Just a suggestion, but why not get with others on your roll call to see what they plan to do, it's always a great starting point. ;)

Thanks Toto2. It is easier said than done as no-one is responding to roll call.

I have read that it is a 'lush island' and also seen trips by Waynes boats but he seems to require a minimum no for reservations.

Maybe I am just trying to organise everything too early!! My biggest concern is the fact that it will be a Sunday, and also Easter!

It's likely to be on the quiet side, commercial activity-wise. ;)

The smaller,lesser developed islands

tend to be more religious than their larger more 'advanced' brothers.

Easter is one of the high holidays of the Christian faith.

The other one is Christmas

but Easter truly supercedes even Xmas as The High Holiday!

You'll find a few taxi drivers around, if you're lucky

but the town will be shut tight, I can just about guarantee that! ;)

Same thing for Antigua, Dominica, Barbados, St.Lucia

Thanks Aplmac, this is what I feared.

It will probably be better to stick with the cruise line for this one,

or do you think the tour operators on the island will still want to trade? ===> Who knows?

I'd just bite the darned bullet and go with one of the ship's tours

and be glad I did something with this awkward day

that otherwise looks to be a right P.I.T.A. commercially. ;)
