I have an intermediate with Budget for $54 from MCO to PC the day before we leave. I was able to use our business code. My department paid for it and I wrote a check to reimburse. For our trip back, I am using Exec VIP as I don't feel like going thru the hassle of renting and retuning a car before my flight.

We used the private car service from executive vip limo as well.

We plan on renting a car to get back to the airport after our cruise on Freedom. We have never traveled out of Port Canaveral before. Is it easy to find the rental car shuttles after exiting the luggage pick up area? Is there a long wait for a shuttle on departure days? I'm pretty confident we will be renting with Avis. Thanks!

Just did this.. We used Avis as well. They were great. Getting off the ship in Port Canaveral from the Dream was so easy, luggage retrieval was easy too. We headed outside of the building and the Avis (as are all) pick up area was to your far right side as you exit the building. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. Once there we were loaded quickly, shuttled to Avis and the pickup went very quick for the car. Loved Avis and would rent from them again...

The Victory Casino Cruises will begin tomorrow - they are located at Pier 2 (180 Christopher Columbus Drive, Cape Canaveral, Fla 32920) which is right accross the street from Ron Jon Caribe Hotel - their website is http://www.victorycasinocruises.com/

I had to go to their main office and boy I was truely impressed - The Victory has so remodeled and looked great.

We are flying into FLL and renting a vehicle to Cape Canaveral. Some agencies don't show Cape Canaveral as the drop off point. The closest listing is Melbourne (airport, I presume). Is this still OK and will they drop us off to the cruise ship? And pick up again after the cruise.

Interesting. I have only heard of Thrifty once in a while asking for a drop fee.

Sometimes the in town locations are "port canaveral" and sometimes they ate "cocoa beach" and seems like agency even lists theirs as "cape canaveral".

You may need to try all three to find the off airport locations. You do not want the Melbourne airport locations.

psb...just checked for my one way rental, MCO to PC, 8AM - 3PM, October 22nd. For a compact; Hertz $92.20, Avis prepaid $82.23 Ouch!

National closed their Canaveral location and their next closest is Melbourne. If that is who you are looking at and prefer their services, you may want to call and ask about a transfer.

Thanks for all the speedy replies. National was one of the ones we were looking at - they seem to have the cheapest prices so far. But if it is a pain getting from Melbourne airport, we will have to look at other rentals.

Mike - the LaQuinta at the beach has really renovated their place - don't know when is the last time you were there - Doubletree is also a nice place - I am sure you will get a lot of responses to your question and if you have any concerns, just ask and we are here to help ya

I was at LaQuinta in September.....took me awhile to find it...kinda hidden from the main road. I tend to remember the very good......and the very bad of hotels and cruises. LaQuinta was neither.....average I guess. Last time I stayed at Best Western we had an oceanfront room on a high floor. We enjoyed the beach all day. Early in the evening we bought a box of donuts and left them on a table in the room while we went out for dinner. Got back a couple hours later and noticed our unopen new box of donuts were infested with bugs! Appeared to be ants with trails of them across the table....down the legs.....and on the walls. They couldn't change our room but sent an exterminator while we went out for drinks....Only stayed that night but doubt we would return. LOL. I was surprised at how fast and how many found those donuts.....we weren't gone very long.

Is it closer/faster to fly into Melbourne or Orlando? I am stressed because we are flying in the same day our cruise leaves. I know it is recommended to fly in earlier but this time I can’t help it.
