Great News for a Group!!

Recommended Posts

Thought I would share some great news from RCCL:

My family decided to take a Western Caribbean cruise over Thanksgiving this year and we have been telling our friends. Slowly but surely we now have 8 cabins booked, enough to be considered a group. I just found out from my TA that since I have been coordinating all the bookings with RCCL, I am now eligible for another credit....about $2500 !!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, whatever cabin type has the most bookings in your group, in our case we have more Grand Suites, the "coordinator" gets a credit equal to the cost of the first berth, hence the $2500. I'm thrilled! Although, it has been alot of work and I know I deserve it I will figure out a way to share the reward. RCCL also usually gives an onboard credit to each cabin as well (or champagne or chocolates, etc), but since it's vacation week they are not offering any other perks Oh well, I'll just have to accept the cash.LOL.

I'm organizer for a group of 94 women on Sovereign for a weekend cruise in October. Our refund will be enough for us to charter two busses roundtrip from the airport in Orlando to the pier. Since RCCL charges $45 each for a roundtrip transfer, this is a nice extra little perk for my group.
Keep in mind that your refund that you receive after the cruise does NOT include taxes or port fees so the total isn't quite as high as I first anticipated it would be. Still nice, however.
You'll have a great thanksgiving!

Since everyone want's to do the Everglade tour in Miami and we will have most of the day before our flight leaves, I think I'll reserve it for the 20 of us. That would be a fair and good use of the reward, don't you think?

That sounds wonderful...It is suppose to be a good time...especially in November...it will have cooled off a bit. I wanted to do that on my last vaca in Miami...but time didn't permit...they will be thrilled.

We have 25 cabins booked for the Monarch on Oct 25th and our TA told us we would not get any fare reduction. Made me think that I will not be booking on RCCL again.

Think I'd check with RCI. You should be getting something for that many cabins being booked.....

At the very least you should get a few TC credits. Some agents dont tell you about it and keep it as profit. I usually go with my group so use it for various things for the group such as transfers, a party etc.

It is possible you might not get any GAP but ask about it anyway.

You dont always get a reduction but usually what happens is they will take the TC credit and divide it out and then tell you it is a reduction or sometimes one of the options with GAP is so much off each cabin.

I don't really understand how the group bookings work. We got a "good price" on our 3 night cruise on Sovereign using an agency that does a lot of the group stuff for cruise critic, but in the end our ladies could have booked on their own and probably saved about $20 per cabin. I checked with LOTS of agents and just couldn't get the best price with a group booking. Booking direct with RCCL for a group was even worse. As I mentioned in an earlier post, however, the eventual "refund" for every eight cabins booked will pay for our chartered coaches from Orlando to the pier and that's a savings of at least $40 per person which is great.

I am booking a group directly through RCCL and was told that for every 8 cabins booked, we would receive a credit equal to the lowest passenger fare booked. So even though a number of the rooms booked are suites, we will only get a credit (per 8 rooms booked) equal to one inside room fare, since some of the folks will be in inside rooms. Anyway, this is what I was told by the fellow handling our reservation.
