leagle Posted January 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2010 I have heard a lot about the "windiness" of the QM2 decks. Does that preclude wearing a full(ish) knee length skirt when walking around the said decks? In the interests of both decency and consideration for the aesthetic sensibilities of the other passengers, I would prefer not to have my skirts blown up to my waist. I would also prefer not to have my nice stroll hobbled by needing to hold my skirt down. I can confine myself to trousers and straight(ish) ankle-length skirts if necessary, but I am going in August and would normally bring a couple of knee length skirts to cope with the heat at my destination. It is sad I know, but for me planning what clothing to take is part of the excitement and anticipation of travel. I travel solo and light so it takes careful planning. (Or so I tell myself)
Jimsgirl Posted January 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2010 I would plan on wearing pants when out on deck even in August, you have not only the wind speed itself, but the ship is travelling at over 20 knots also. It is also often cool inside the ship, so I would certain take a cardigan, or similar in case you feel the cold.
Rare Host Sharon Posted January 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2010 I rarely wear trousers (pants) and had few problems if any. Just don't wear very full skirts. Otherwise you should be fine. There are a few places, such as the foredeck, where I had to hold things down, but for just strolling the main boat deck and upper sun decks - no problem - and that was transatlantic. Have a great time.
leagle Posted January 17, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Thank you both for the very helpful advice. I shall keep any skirts worn outside straight and, probably, long. Thank you also for the reminder about a cardigan or jacket. I think my packing list is begining to shape up.:)
