We have sailed on the Star and the Golden. This will be our first cruise on CP.

Can some past cruisers answer a few questions about Cafe Caribe.

A. I this restr. part of the Horizon court?

B. Same food, Same hours?

C. Horizon Court evenings had a Bistro. Is Cafe Caribe an extension of that theme?

D. How is the food and dress code?

Thanks,

Kevin

A. Not really same area but different serving & seating area..overlooking Terrace Pool. Tablecloths, wine & beverage service more upscale then Horizon court. B. Nope different food, different hours they will be detailed on the card in your room. C.Nope D. Exceptional food, especially the Seafood offerings, sushi, salads, entrees mouthwatering. Dress casual and you can pickup a plate and eat overlooking the Pool area and the aft of the ship. Enjoy! :D

The Cafe Caribe is another set of buffet lines, these more traditional and easier to understand semi-straight line cafeteria style as opposed to the Horizon Courts scramble style serving. In fact at breakfast and for the embarkation lunch on the first day, both the Horizon Court's two serving areas and the Cafe Caribe's two combine for four serving the same thing to handle the crowd.

"How is the food?" is a tough question that probably only you can answer really specifically. We found plenty of offerings that we liked, some we didn't and often the "stars" of the dining room like Prime Rib and Lobster, served on the same nights at the buffets and in the dining room.

Dress code is for the whole ship and not specific to dining areas but it seems to be an unwritten exemption to the code that going to the buffet means dressing down from whatever the order of the day is. In reality, the Horizon Court is more casual than Cafe Caribe which sets tables up in advance with tablecloths, stemware and flatware. Still, you'll see people in shorts who dropped in for a quick bite.

Special thanks for all the good info. from Chris, TOto2Kansas, Bill and Jenice.

It's your contributions and the sharing of information about cruising that make this board fun and a great resource.

All the best to you. :0)
