Driving in Alaska/Canada

Yes, it's very different - except in Anchorage and Fairabnks, there's no traffic! Other than that, it's all the same. That's an exaggeration about the no traffic, but not too far from the truth. Good roads, few cops, fuel prices not bad - what more is there? Some people believe that the legends from the 1950s are still true today - you wouldn't believe some of the stories I see on the Web. Among other things, I drive charter bus around the Yukon and Alaska year-round, and have been on pretty much every road in both jurisdictions.

Its been sometime but I remember well driving to work early in the morning in Anchorage and having to stop for Mr. Moose who was hogging the road. I was told if you come into contact with a moose while drive the moose was usually the winner. It sure was a different communte than what I do today. Tim
