mkend Posted January 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Hi, I was going to order myself a bottle of coconut rum from the Princess website. Will it be in my room when I get on board? For $22.00 what size bottle is it? It doesn't seen worth smuggling a bottle on if I can order one and have it right away. I will bring my pina colada mix and my Hawaiin Punch and I'm all set!! Thanks for your help. Marge
ahracer Posted January 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2005 It should be a liter bottle. You will get it sometime the afternoon that you board. Scott
CruiseFever Posted January 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2005 They might have coupons for you to call and redeem through room service for your booze. I didn't like that wanting it waiting for us when we walked in the door but I can see how they'd be concerned that someone would come in and take it before we got there. Turns out it was not a bad idea as we also ordered some bar supplies at the same time, all were delivered promptly.
LARGIN Posted January 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Here in California, you can buy the same 1 liter bottle of Cruzan Rum Coconut for $10.
mkend Posted January 18, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Wow $10.99 I might have to drink two!!!!!!!!!!!!!
flowy Posted January 19, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2005 Your steward brings it to you upon request. When you get to a port, you can bring it aboard as well as when you board. However, the convenience was wonderful.
Toto2Kansas Posted January 19, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2005 If you wait until you board, the same liter of coconut rum is $20 from room service. Why they charge more when you pre-order is beyond me.
OnTheRoad69 Posted September 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2011 I just looked on Princess website and gin is $22 for 375ml.

1 HappyCruiser Posted September 9, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Here in California, you can buy the same 1 liter bottle of Cruzan Rum Coconut for $10.99 That's about what I paid for it in St Thomas last cruise & it's coming with me on our next cruise. Princess charges an double that for 375 ml.
betterthanworking Posted September 9, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2011 The only liquor you can buy for your room is the 375 ml bottles. You can noonger get the one L bottles.
KruzPrincess Posted September 9, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2011 The option to order in advance is mostly meant for sending gifts to people on the ship, so I think prices are a little higher for that reason. They're making some extra money from it.
Carolyn R Posted September 9, 2011 #13 Share Posted September 9, 2011 When you preorder the gratuity is included.

Why they charge more when you pre-order is beyond me. When did they start selling full one L bottles again? I thought all you could get were the 375 ml setups? I just checked their websitte and all they list are the 375 ml setups at a ridiculous price.

We order extra pineapple juice in the morning with our breakfasts. Then keep it in the fridge until we need it.

CruisinNewbie2010 Posted September 13, 2011 #17 Share Posted September 13, 2011 They didn't. This thread is from 2005. Are they still correct in saying its cheaper to buy a bottle from room service than pre-order or send as a gift?
CHOPPERTESTER Posted September 13, 2011 #18 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Buy it on board and you will receive a bill for the bottle plus 15% gratuity. Buy it pre-cruise and the list price is higher than the room service menu because it already includes the 15% gratuity. Bottomline is the net cost is the same. canadiantravelfan Posted September 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2011 November will be my first Princess cruise. On a previous cruise with Celebrity we were allowed to bring one bottle each on board. Is this a industry wide standard?

aimhigh Posted December 3, 2011 #22 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Would someone please clarify a question.... If I buy a bottle on board, can I take it back to my cabin and consume there? I am taking liquor-gin etc. I do know that princess will confiscate liquor purchased on shore and save for the end of the trip, but what about purchased on board? Thanks all! If you make a purchase on board they will hold it till the last day but if you buy something at one of the ports most times you can just walk right by the check-in desk, especially when it gets busy in the afternoons. Unless you return with a box filled with bottles no one will give you a second glance and even then if you just casually walk up the stairs you'll be good to go. aimhigh Posted December 3, 2011 #24 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Thanks. I appreciate your reply- must have been asked lots of times! I understand that you can buy 375ml liquor gifts and also from room service ( both of which can be consumed in cabin). Russ
