Flight through San Juan

I am booking a flight from San Martin (sxm) that will stop in San Juan, then on to Dallas. Will we go through customs in San Juan or Dallas? If in San Juan, how much time should I allow?

SXM is Dutch territory. SJU is your first port of entry into the USA, so you will do immigration and customs at SJU. Your bags will be tagged for your complete itinerary, but you have to retrieve them in SJU, go through customs, and drop them off outside the customs area.
