SunFunCruiser Posted March 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Do you think there is enough time?? Ship port time arrival is 10:00 AM, no priority tendering, can we get to the changing of the guard in Monaco in time? What is the best way? Wanting to go to Monte Carlo after that, ship departure is 8:00 PM. Any suggestions on the best route for this. Would also love to have time to see a little of Cannes if possible or at least sit by the promenade for a few drinks.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2010 You do not say your port (Monte Carlo or Villefranche) so I will give you two answers. If you are tendering into Monte Carlo you should have no problem getting to the changing of the guard (it is at 11:55) as long as you are ashore by 11:15. If you are tendering into Villefranche it will be very tight! Assuming you can get ashore by 10:45, you need to grab the next train (11:01) to Monte Carlo and grab a taxi from the train station up to the palace. Depending on your ship and their tendering operation this may or may not work. Hank

Rare Hlitner Posted March 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2010 What I think is you can forget about the Changing of the Guard! The latest train that would get you to Monte Carlo in time...leaves Cannes at 10:10 (gets to Monte Carlo at about 11:15) and the train station in Cannes is about a 25 min walk from the tender pier. But, keeping in mind that it takes about 1:05 each way to get to and from Monte Carlo (by train) you can certainly visit Monte Carlo. You will see some of Cannes just walking to the train station (from the tender pier) and you should plan to get back a couple of hours early which takes the stress out of worrying about missing the ship and allows you to enjoy Cannes right up until the last minute. The nice thing about Cannes is that you have the confidence of knowing you can walk to the tender pier. Hank
