? about seating

Hi,

We are going on our first cruise in June. We have a Deluxe Suite on one a HAL cruise to Alaska. We are very excited. I have a question about seating arrangements. I have read on these boards that we can request a table for 4, and that since we are in a Deluxe Suite, we will probably get it. Is that something that we request in advance? Or on board? And is that just for the dining room? We will probably take turns between eating in the main dining room and at other places on the ship. We probably won't eat somewhere where we have to pay extra though.

thanks,

chris

That's only for the dining room...in other venues, you sit as you wish.

If you haven't already requested a 4-top, call whoever booked you and do it. Then, check when you board to see if you got your wish! If not, they will try to fix it for you.

However, tablemates are FUN! It really makes dinner the social occassion that it is...so if you do have tablemates, introduce yourself and have a great time. We look forward to talking to our new "friends" at dinner nightly!

HAL does their best for seating arrangements requests for everyone, regardless of category - unlike some lines...

We had a deluxe on the last thread and did request a seating arrangement and did get it, but we had no idea until we got on board. Unless I am mistaken, phoning HAL or bugging your travel agent has no effect, it is up to the dining room manager.

We you get on board and if you are in the deluxe category as you state - go to the Neptune lounge and the great staff up there can tell you right away where you are.

If you do not get what you want, then either the Neptune lounge staff MIGHT be able to fix it or you can see the dining room manager on sail away day.

If you have FIxed/Traditional seating in the MDR you can make your request in advance ... but it can be done once you are on board if you have failed to ask earlier, or are given a different size despite your prior request.

If you have Open seating you just ask for the table size you want at the door, or you may call in the morning to make a reservation for that size.

I am assuming that because you stated in your post that you do not plan on eating in the MDR every night, that you have requested the "open seating" rather than a fixed dining time - yes??

Since you are booked into a Deluxe Suite, you will have use of the Neptune Lounge once onboard. The Concierge in the Neptune can handle any/all dining requests for you, including the various dining rooms, table requests, times, etc. You may want to make your reservations known to the concierge as soon as possible because some of the venues and time slots tend to book up quickly.

You will find that the Neptune Concierge will be one of your greatest assets on your cruise. She can handle everything from dining requests to shore excursions to checking your shipboard account; she can arrange for hors'd'ouerves to be sent to your suite for a private get-together. make spa appointments, change large bills when going ashore, and so much more.

You will be so-o very spoiled with the "suite life" !! :D Oh - and don't forget that one of the 'perks' included with your Deluxe Suite" is free laundry and dry cleaning for the length of your cruise. You can send it out every day if you wish! Less packing - more time to enjoy beautiful Alaska!

Have a wonderful trip and Bon Voyage!! :)
