cruzzers,

WOW,a 14-day cruise aboard the Sea with only 3 sea days?Sounds like a whole lot going on to me.We are very partial to the Sea since it was my introduction to Princess and cruising. The Sun-class ships always seem to sell-out fast, especially the balcony rooms.Everyone loves the Sun size ships...megaships may not be the answer to a lot of people...Princess,are you listening???

spaceguy,

Have a fantastic time!I hope you enjoy the Sun as much as we all did.

Here's hoping the sun is warm, your seas are calm, and the drinks are cool.

I hope you're shooting for the lobster tail eating record which is now at 18.

Keep us posted,

CFL

Attn Cruzzers - We were on the Sun for the 10 day Eastern Caribbean Voyager cruise on Feb 27 & while onboard we also booked the 14 day cruise on the Sea Princess for 2/25/06 - We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Sun & thought that this particular voyage sounded too great to pass up. This cruise will result in experiencing 4 new ports for us & the 14 days sounded great for a winter break. We have been on many 7 & 10 day cruises & one 17 day repositioning cruise & know that 14 days will be just about right.

Still love reading this thread every day & reliving our great cruise through all the new viewpoints. :)

Be sure and go to the roll call thread for the Sea Princess for 2/25/06. Believe it or not there is one started already. Sounds like we may be off to a good start already! Does anyone else want to join us!?

CFL..you should come on along since you are familiar to the ship already!

Since you are both going on the Sea Princess on 2/25/06, you may want to join in the roll-call at the following location:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=150277

You were both onboard the Sun right after we were. We really enjoyed the Sun and like Cruiserforlife, we like the Sun Class ships. We have been on the Grand and Golden in the past 3 years and 3 of NCL ships before that. The Sun is definately our favorite with the exception of the rooms being a bit smaller than the Grand class ships. The room size is not a problem for us since we are in port so much. We decided to spend the extra $ on excursions.

At any rate, we are looking forward to meeting all of you, even if we do have a ways to go. We will continue to visit this site that seems to keep everyone updated on the Sun and lets us all relive our experiences aboard the Sun. Thanks to all of you who continue to share your cruise with us.;)

At the hotel awaiting the shuttle. FLL on a weekday is pretty quiet compared to the weekend cruise crunch.

The Sun should be the only ship at the Princess docks today. According to the webcam, she's parked in the prime slot. No other princess ships in port today.

The weather is stormy and rainy. A line of T-Storms is moving aross the pennisula from SW to NE and will cause people flying in today some bumps and potential delays. Thunder and lightning woke me up at 0430 this morning. Thats 0230 MST for me. Going to need a little nap this afternoon for sure.

I will try and post while on board, but it will be minimal. Not platinum yet, so it will cost.

See everyone at the Sail-away tonight. We expect about 40 of us to show up.

Back after a fabulous cruise on the Sun.

Wow what a thunderstorm on the last night though! Still, can't complain about the weather because we had sun sun and more sun on the Sun Princess.

Disembarkation went like clockwork and we were off the ship and through immigration and customs by 0940. A very slick procedure, as was the boarding.

We saw the Sun Princess sailaway from our hotel. It appeared that Capt Kent decided to practice a man overboard drill and the ship circled around for an hour or so just off the coast. Perhaps someone onboard can confirm. I'm sure that the Capt kept everybody informed - as is his habit!

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the Sun and even the cruise director (Gavin)wasn't the annoying "in yer face" type that we have endured in the past. Moreover and most pleasingly, I didn't hear him say "at this time" once. His Canadian subordinates weren't so erudite! 50 dollars went to our waiter! See previous posts for the bet. I decided to give the cash to the waiter rather than than Maitre d' - the waiter was far more deserving!

Anyway, sorry I didn't touch base with Phyllis, Ron & co but I didn't want to spoil their vacation!! By the way, Phyllis, I had the cabin directly beneath you!! Next door to some particularly noisy teenagers.

Going on the Sun 5-30 to cruise Alaska, we were upgraded form an interior to window in Emerlad deck, I see above is the lounges and theatres, has anyone had noise from above on that deck?

Thanks

Hi All,

We are live from the Sun! We boarded yesterday and had a wonderful meet and great with a great group of cruise critic cruisers: The Sun Dreamers! Princess reserved a nice covered patio next to the Riviera Bar for our exculsive use for our sail away party! We had about 30-40 people meet and we had a nice time getting to know everyone.

We just left a group of 10 that met for lunch in the dining room. ccrain, rehabber and spaceguy were there and we had a lovely lunch.

Everything has been great so far except its raining right now so we figured it would be a good time to do our email. The ship is in great shape, the food is good and tonight is formal night.

That's all for now.

Debbie

Cruiserforlife your record of eating 18 lobsters is safe all I could do is 6 and that was be cause I didn't eat any salad. We had a great cruise weather was perfect food was great and the people we met were great.

We ate in the dining room every morning except one and every lunch except 2. The food was great and the service excellent. We ate in the pizzaeria one day and that was also good. Our room steward was terrific and he has a difficult job dealing with all those people.

Mr. M if I knew your room was underneath mine I would have come knocking on your door and you would have had to explain that to Mrs. M

We meet Rucruzin and had a great time with them and also meet RxRetired and they are terrific couple.

We only did one ships excursion that was the sailaway to Nevis. Best excursion we ever took.

We would definitely go on this ship again. We are going on the Carribbean Princess in Sept.,but I am not sure if I will like it because it is a large ship compared to the Sun Class Ships.

Mr M...you're safe now...please tell us who you were. I met almost everyone on board and yelled out "hey Mr Miserable" to a couple people I thought might be you. You did a great job of keeping your identity a secret. Did you know who we were? We met Bocacelli, had them pegged from the first day. Spent a bit of time with them and have to say...he's really not a very nice person ;) but his lovely wife is well, lovely. Really...thanks again Boca.

I was curious as to what was going on with the Sun last night myself. We watched her sail away....very slowly, then stop, then turn around, then stopped all together and just floated for a bit. She then appeared to be headed back to port but then turned around again and headed back out to sea...but then once again stopped and floated for quite some time. I think they finally sailed off about 7:30. MM is that what you noticed?

Anyway yes, fabulous cruise, excellent weather, good times. We danced all the time even when we were the only ones on the deck dancing by ourselves. We got pleanty of sun but it is currently flaking away with every extra second now that we are back in NM.

I just got home and desperatly need a nap so I'll write a complete review later.

Well, we're all here. Day one at sea. Formal night. Met all the CC people at the sail-away last evening. Lunch with a smaller group of 10. Richard (gvre) promised to buy us lunch and we never pass up a free lunch.

Crowd on board is younger than our previous 10 day cruise. Probably an average of 35-50. Had a passenger incident, illness, that forced us to circle outside of FLL for a while. We finally had to launch a tender to take the person to shore.

Food at dinner was very good. Same menu as on the Star in November, but TOTALLY DIFFERENT TASTE. The mushroom soup was perfectly seasoned, the zander as well and the little new potatoes were very tasty. The zuppa inglese ice cream was extremely rich, much "thicker" in spices than on the Star. Apparently these chefs have the freedom to really vary the flavors, so we're ending up eating the same menu items with a totally different flavor. I like it!!!!

Gym is very well stocked with new equipment. The free class today (step aerobics) was a killer according to Judy and the first of 3 spinning classes featured Mark as the slave driver. Judy "hates" him - not really, but he is tough.

Ship is in great condition for 10 years old. Verdi's pizza was very good, not to fancy, just good old pizza and calzone. Breakfast in the Hcourt was standard buffet. Lunch in the dining room was ok, but the company made it great. Its neat to discuss our favorite topic, cruising, without having to type and use emoticons.

Future cruise lady was sick today, so no reservations, just some upset people. Line will start forming again tomorrow. I just want my 6 open bookings and I will be happy.

Time to go get dressed for formal night. Hope some of the other CC'ers can post as we go along. I'll try, but without platinum status, this could get expensive.

BTW - egg foam mattress is the way to go. Slept with the door open last night. The protected balconies on the Sun Class makes this perfect. Warm tropical breeze, sound of the bow slipping through the waves, my love at my side...it just doesn't get any better than this...

E'ya all later...

I second the egg foam, the bed was pretty hard the first night and we asked our steward for the foam and slept much better after that.

CCrain, make yourself aware that you can order special things in the dining room for dinner. Our tablemates were from India by way of England. After several discussions about their favorite foods they requested some indian cuisine which the Indian chefs happily accomodated. We had fabulous specialty foods for two nights, more than we could eat and far better than the typical menu fare.

Hope your cruise is as sunny and beautiful as ours was... :( Sad to be back to reality.

Second sea day. Glorious morning. Slight swells. Great workout - had to sweat off dinner.

Dinner was Captain's Welcome. Mahi-mahi was very good. Beef tournadoes were very good. Breakfast in the Hcourt was buffet. What else to say. Our cabin steward, Bethoven, is very nice, efficient and just about perfect. We're celebrating Judy's b-day today, so she's getting the seaweed wrap, massage, revitilizing feel like a sushi roll, hopefully without the smell, in the water bed pamper treatment this morning.

Our table mates are on their first cruise and a real nice couple. Its fun watching people enjoy their first cruise.

Comedian (Jay) was good last night.

Sleeping with the door open last night was great again. I haven't slept this well in weeks. Just now starting to really unwind. Now its off to the casino. I think we'll sign up for the marriage game tonight. Sounds like fun.

E'ya all later...

Ccrain, You guys are killing me! It sounds like heaven. We loved our Sun cruise in Feb and have REALLY loved keeping the cruise alive by re-living it again through the eyes of current cruisers. We hope you have the best cruise ever and enjoy it even half as much as we did. We are booked on the Sea Princess for Feb. of 06 and can't wait.

Keep those Sun updates coming and have a great cruise for us!

:) Thanks so much for all the updtes. We were on the March 19 cruise and really miss friends we made, the food, the rest we got, etc.

Capt. Kent is a great person and we enjoyed meeting him.

Enjoy yourselves, we wish we were there. Our next cruise is not until the Coral Princess, March 14, 2006. Started a roll call but no response as of this date.

I agree with the above posters. Thanks for keeping the Sun alive for all of us. We were on in January, which seems like a long time ago, but still enjoy hearing how those now on board are having a great time. It was a wonderful cruise for us and seems to be for those who followed. This thread has seemed to get rid of all the negative posts about the Sun we were reading before our cruise.

To those on board -- enjoy!!
