Our Lucaya day pass - which resorts

Recommended Posts

We went to Our Lucaya Monday. It is STUNNING & HUGE!

We paid $15 each at the security checkpoint.

There are a lot of pools including an infinity pool with a swim up bar. Drinks were expensive there though. We ordered two drinks that were $6.50 each & with taxes & built in tips the bill was $17.25. They were really small drinks & had very little liquor in them. The bartenders at the swim up bar were not very friendly either. That was our only complaint of the day. Everything else was incredible & we would definitely go back.

Lounge chairs are available at the pool or the beach. The pool loungers have umbrellas but I don't remember seeing any at the beach. The day pass does not include towels.

It is across the street from the straw market with plenty of shopping & restaraunts.

Jet skis, parasailing, banana boats, etc. are available for a fee.

We had a perfect day at Our Lucaya with gorgeous weather.

I will try to download some pics later.

Do you know if there was a waterslide? I think I read there was a two story waterslide

One of the pools areas (could be closed due to low guest count) has a "slide" that is 2 story but more for tykes that adults. Last time we stayed at the resort my 17 yo daughter and friend tried and could not really fit well. It's nothing to go to a resort for... having said all that it's a great place to go:

Thanks. I think we are going to spend the day at this resort and not go to Deadman's Reef because of the short port time. Thank you to all for the great information :)

It's a great time, just be aware that across the street at the shopping area there is a subway or something like that, that has "cheap" subs, food in general is cheaper than at resort. Same with drinks, around Count Basie Square are several bars that cater to the boat people (yachties) and have cheap drinks/shots. Sometimes less that half what it is at the resort. Will be there (or VIVA) in May.

Thanks, I have read about the shopping area across the street. I Don't think we will be drinking or eating at the resort :)

  • 1 month later...

I have one more question. Does anyone know if they have day rooms? We are planning on getting a day room at the Sheraton in Nassau. Would love to have a private place to shower and change before returning to the ship. Thanks for all this amazing information

The resort is not doing day rooms the day we will be there. Not sure why, but that is what they told me on the phone. They will have day passes.

Most likely full, only reason I can think of. If you go to there you might try the front desk... sometimes one hand has no idea what the other is doing.

We may do the same, so nice to have a room to shower/etc. We loved the resort when it was a Westin. Great pools... eat/drink next door(shopping area) though!

Just because I am sitting here I will add a pic ImageUploadedByTapatalk1335845609.873443.jpg.c5394bd2ced879189413a9165a3c965f.jpg

Looking thru my pics looks like I only have a couple. I took lots and lots at the Sheraton in Nassau. Our entire day in Freeport was overcast the sun didn't peak out once so we laid in the hammocks and strolled around in the shops across the street. The resort is beautiful!! Not one of the three pools are heated. This is a pic one of the poolsImageUploadedByTapatalk1335845887.009770.jpg.9dd02c241bf944d0126b6cd6707073e6.jpg

Hope these help

Im still sorta confused. We were there in 2010 and paid about $15 each to access Our Lucaya. When we go in February we were planning on going back. Is Our Lucaya and Grand Lucaya the same place or do you get access to both with the one day pass? Thank you!

I just recieved this from Grand Lucaya, Im still fuzzy as to whether or not the Our Lucaya is included. I sent a follow up email and as soon as I get an answer back I will post it.

As far as the Grand Lucaya, this is what I recieved:

Greetings from Radisson Grand Lucayan and thank you for your inquiry.

We do offer day passes for non-guests. The cost of the pass is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The pass allows use of the pool, chairs and beach. Towels and food are not included. However, if you choose to eat at one of the outlets on property, the fee that you paid for the pass will be credited toward your food and beverage bill.

The pass may be purchased at the harbour or at the hotel upon your arrival.

Please feel free to contact us at reservations@grandlucayan.com if you have any additional questions.

Kind regards,

Reservations

OK, Our Lucaya is the area including the marina/market area, other hotels, casino and the Grand Lucaya resort which used to be a Westin/Sheraton but is now a Radisson Grand Lucayan and the Sheraton is now called something else, not sure what. The day pass includes 3 pools, one with a small slide, access to bathrooms (no actual hotel room), loungers, etc. The market area has plenty of places to eat/shop and drink for much cheaper than in the resort. A hamburger is $14 or more with mandatory 15% tip in the resort. Hope this helps...

Ahh yes!! I was thinking Our Lucaya was the name of the resort with the old sugar mill slide and pool. But I guess thats just my mistake from looking at our old pictures and stuff from the last cruise!

Thank you!

No problem. We have stayed at the Westin, at the Sheraton, at the Radisson, and prior to that it was the, well heck I can't remember. We used to take the Charlotte non-stop flight to GBI or drive down and take the Discovery Cruise line ferry over for a few days. Love that resort but have also stayed at the Viva Fortuna resort (an AI), not a high class place but if you get the right price it's great with all the booze/food you want and a great deserted beach!

Does anyone remember how much the cab ride is RT to there?

For further clarification, I received this in response to my follow up email

From me:

Thank you so much for the prompt response! We will be arriving in February of 2013. Does your day pass also include access to the Our Lucaya facility? Thank you.

From Grand Lucaya:

We are no longer Our Lucaya but Grand Lucayan.

You are welcome.

So evidently I was correct that at one point they were "Our Lucaya" but are no longer. Either way, question answered and plans made! :D:D

So does the rate change from day to day, or depending on who answers your email? I got a response from Radisson Grand Lucaya on 4/28 that said the daily rate for adults is $20 kids $5.

jdyer09 would you mind forwarding me your email so i can pay $10 instead of $20? There are 6 of us and that's extra bingo cards. ram827@bellsouth.net

The area is still called Our Lucaya.... When it was the Westin they used the name also but the whole area is called that.

One thing to always remember about the Bahamas (and the carib in general) the price is always subject to change.
