Bomb Threat Last Night on the Fascination

Recommended Posts

Oh my goodness - a bomb scare and 5 arrests (including one for sexual assault). This makes me VERY nervous for my cruise on the Fascination this summer. :(

we were on the may10-15 and there was mention of the bomb threat by employees and we were delayed getting on but it was a wonderful NON EVENTFUL cruise. never saw or heard anything unusual

I was in R26 and when I told my friends how my cruise started with a fall and ended with a bomb threat they were first concerned but then when I told the stories they were laughing and still laughing......and it's over a week later!!!! Don't know if you saw me but I was the person who fell over backwards while waiting in line outside to check in. I'm even laughing right now...Anyway, I totally forgot I had a backpack on (had it on for so long while waiting that it I'd become one with my backpack), dropped my passport and as I and the Carnival rep bent down to pick it up, as my fingers were within reach i began to suddenly fall backwards and landed on my butt!!!!!!!!!! It was one of those surreal moments then I just started bursting with laughter and told the rep 'I swear, I have not been drinking'. My friends are so bummed they were not there to capture the moment to be played over and over again. :) Then I fill them in about the bomb threat. They weren't laughing about the threat but my reaction to it when they came knocking on my door. I have to stop laughing to even type this. LOL Ok, for over 10 years I've been cruising and I always keep my pjs and pack my bed linen (I always travel with my own bed linen and towels...don't ask :). Well, this time I decided that I'd pack my pjs since I had my cabin at a nice temp and my sheet and personal blanket would keep me warm. Besides, nothing ever happens and if I were required to abandon ship I'd have my next days clothes to put on. So I went to bed simply wrapped in a sheet and nothing more....hey, it was just me in the cabin what the heck. So when I got the knock on the door at about 2:45am I at first thought 'oh, that's next door'. Then the female voice knocked louder and said 'security'. I got up peeped out the peep hole and saw it was a female security officer. I said 'one moment please' and this is where my friends cannot stop laughing. Here I am all groggy now nervous trying to remember where I put my clothes.....now why I didnt' simply turn on the lights still baffles me. LOL so i'm rushing trying to put on my pants and i'm trying to figure out why I can't get them on......well, it turns out I was trying to put both legs in one pant leg. So I finally got the pants on but I couldn't find the shirt....again, why didn't I turn on the light. LOl at this point, I'm extremely nervous because I'm now in forensic scientist mode and thinking 'ok, now they're probably thinking I'm trying to hide contraband because I'm stalling'. So I'm really rushing trying to put on my jacket but can't figure out why the jacked won't zip up and I'm thinking 'Why isn't this working...I can't go to the door with my breasts exposed'. So I begin to feel around the jacket....still, no light on....I feel that the jackets hood is at my butt.......NO WONDER THE JACKET WON'T ZIP!!!! IT'S FREAKIN' UPSIDE DOWN!!!!! LOLLLLLLLL I quickly took it off and got it together and let security in. She looked at me oddly probably figuring out what took so long..... but she apologized for the disturbance and began searching entire room (under bed, in porthole window, drawers, shower, closets etc). Then they left and like others I received a letter under my door. I tell ya, that was the most memorable cruise I've other had. My friends and coworkers are still laughing at my entrance and exits off the ship. This is the second cruise that something major has happened. On the Miracle in December I heard that allegedly some lady was thrown over the balcony to the decks below on our second sea day. Anyway, I agree with those of you in that this was the most interesting cruise and HORRIBLE disembarkation process that I'd ever been thru. In all my years of cruising I have NEVER gotten off a ship at 1130am!!!! Had I not pay the porter to take me out I would have probably been in line until perhaps after an hour after that just to clear customs!!!! I'm just glad I didn't book the original 1130am flight back to Cali like I originally planned...I'd booked a 230p flight 'just in case'.....glad I did. :)

Coming off a 4 night cruise on the Fascination out of Jacksonville. We had a great time but last night around 3:30 a.m. my wife told me someone was knocking on the cabin door. I just rolled over and said it was probably just some lost drunk guy who couldnt find his cabin and told her to go back to sleep. Shure enough 10 seconds later another loud thud came from the door. In my early morning stupor I crawled out of bed and answered the cabin door not thinking of the clothes or lack there of that I didnt have on.

There stood a male and female "Officers" in white uniforms with stripes stating "We need to search your cabin immediatly!" Now normaly I would protest and demand and explination but I was still sleep walking and they seemed hell bent on doing it so I conserverved my energy slunk back to the still warm bed spot and said for them to "knock themselves out"

They stayed for about 1 minute searching everything but our luggage, checking the balcony, begind the curtain under the live vests and even under the narrow passage under the bed. Turning to say goodnight they flicked off the light and chut the door behind themselves where I could here the familiar thud on the cabin next door to mine.

When we awoke some 3 hours later and found a slip under the door advising that the Jackosnville police had advised them they recieved a bomb threat at 1am that early morning. While waiting in the human sea of bodys waiting to disembark (which was delayed to to the bomb inspection I guess) We also heard there had been 5 arrests made aboard our whip during my cruise including a fight and a sexual assault. I did witness a few people being escorted off by Jacksonvilles Finest as we departed the ship at 10:30 AM and we were on deck 4 ( snuck down from 7). It was the most interesting cruise and worst disembarkation I have ever been apart of..

Thought you might want to know!

Funny story, thanks for posting. I agree about the disembarkation. It did seem awfully slow. I thought it was funny too that the CD mentioned "we are ahead of schedule!! Really? Anyway, we had a great time on this cruise too.

so what does that mean? You're not worthy if you don't have 2000 posts? I've been a member for over 6 years but I hardly post at all. I read alot of posts and usually only before a cruise and after a cruise.

I am amazed that folks cannot believe that there would be a bomb scare on a CCL ship. We are living in a scary time where terrorism is a reality. I was on a cruise last week and the art auctioner mentioned that he was assigned to scuba dive under the ship he was on, on 911 looking for bombs on the ships hull. I don't care what CCL needs to do by checking luggage at embarcation or by inspecting rooms like on the Facination. I just want us all to have safe cruises.

According to Carnval's security FAQ, the ships' hulls are searched by scuba divers twice at each port:

I too am also suprised at all the naysayers in this forum ! Why the need to challenge somebodys personal experience ? I thought a troll would be trying to come on a new board to stir up controversy , but it seems to me like the ones here starting all the controversy are the "high count posters" I saw nothing at all wrong with the OP post. It seemed very objective to me and informative. Hopefully all of you can remember when your post count was not so high and think how you would have felt if people treated you like that..

We were on the sailing for May 10th. Check in security people told us that a couple had a fight and the girl said she had planted a bomb. She was taken off in handcuffs and he was quesitoned. It delayed our boarding time, since people were still getting off at 12:00. There was also a body bag being taken off the ship ): Not related, but just fyi.

Don't be so sensitive.

This is a public message board and anyone can post anything. We seriously cannot believe with 100% certainty every word typed on these pages.

The simple fact that there was a bomb threat and it didn't make news is what caused the skepticism. Cruise ship mishaps make news all the time...something as horrific as a bomb threat not making news would make most people suspicious of the OP, especially if it isn't an established CC member.

Skepticism is a healthy thing. Try to always remember that. It's not personal, it's not an attack on people with low post counts.
