I am trying to decide to fly into LAX for a Star trip to Mexico or pay a little more--$20 per flight--and fly into Long Beach. I was just curious if it would be better to pay a little more for the flight but then save it on trying to get from LAX to the Crowne Plaza. Any advice or something others have used for transportation--all is welcome. We will be flying in on a Friday around 11:00--cruise leaves on Saturday.

Should you fly into Long Beach, I would just take a Cab to the Hilton Downtown Long Beach. You can walk to a lot of sites and also take City Transportation to the Queen Mary. I got a great deal on Price Line last year and the Hilton was $50.00 Per night for two. You might spend $60.00 to $75.00 in cab fares, but there is sooooo much more to do in Long Beach than at LAX. Have a great cruise!

I am a big supporter of Long Beach airport, did this last month.

Taxi:

LB airport to Queen Mary flat fee $30, to downtown LB a little less.

LB airport to San Pedro flat fee $45.

Long Beach to San Pedro about $30.

Will your cruise be this fall, if so you have time to check the airlines prices. They could come down to the same as LAX, if not LB is still better. Our flight was the same cost to LB or LAX.

Long Beach airport is a no hassle airport, you land - get your bags and gone in no time at all. We were gone in about 20 min.

I like Long Beach over San Pedro, San Pedro is nice but there is more to do in Long Beach.

you aren't really going to gain anything from flying into Long Beach as the taxi is a little pricey or was the one time we took it. Going into LAX you have more transfer options. Now that being said, for the extra $20 I would probably go for Long Beach, it is such a nice little airport. LAX is a total nightmere, not as bad as Miami but a nightmere anyway.
