donaldsc Posted May 22, 2010 #26 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Two words for you: Norwegian Pearl :D :p Very comfy beds and spectacular views in Glacier Bay. To base a cruise choice on the comfort of the bed is, IMHO, exterminate strange. DON
donaldsc Posted May 22, 2010 #27 Share Posted May 22, 2010 If you like smaller ships and a more intimate cruise experience, the Royal Princess does a 14 day Alaska trip. The stops are excellent and it is a really neat ship that has a capacity of only 650. We did it last year and the itinerary this year is better. DON The Royal Princess is doing the trip this year but not next year. Princess is transferring the ship to another line.
Chenega Posted May 22, 2010 #29 Share Posted May 22, 2010 In my opinion as a resident Alaskan, any cruise that only does SE Alaska is shortchanging the visitor. Although more costly, a one-way trip gives the visitor not only the major sights of SE Alaska but allows some exploration of Southcentral Alaska. We're talking Kenai Fjords National Park (Seward), Prince William Sound (Whittier), and Denali just for highlights. As far as the Hubbard vs. Glacier Bay issue, both are completely different experiences that can be equally enjoyed on the same trip.
