Go to the princess site and build the tour package options for your ship and read thru it. ( http://www.princess.com/learn/shorex/index.jsp ) What is best for some may not be for you. As an example some would say ziplining in a Alaska rainforrest over whale watch, or vice versa. Two totally different port experiences for people with same or different interests.

IMHO Alaska is about, glacier/scenics, wildlife, fishing and geo specific culture. High octane activities around those make sense, in themselves seem a waste or missed opportunity.

Happy planning,

I took the Sea Princess last year out of SF. If this is the cruise you are taking, then if it is not foggy when you depart, be sure to be outside on the top decks as you sail under the GG bridge. For us the white pass railroad was great in Skagway. We did not go up Mt Roberts tram because it was raining with poor visability in Juneau(luck of the draw). In Tracy Arms fjord, we stayed pretty much on deck 7 between the door ways. That we we were protected from the rain, yet could go back and forth to each side with no trouble. Not many crowds to deal with either. In Ketchikan, be sure to walk to Creek street as that was very cool. We did a bike and brew excursion in Juneau in the rain which turned out to be a lot of fun, especially when we went to the Alaskan beer brewery afterwards. Every excursion you go on is as good as you make it and never mind rainy weather. Just be prepared for all types of weather and you will enjoy the cruise completely.

In Juneau we went out with Capt. Greg from Weather Permitting Tours.

As a frequent traveler our standards are high (sometimes bordering on "unreasonable") but Captain Greg exceeded even our expectations!. His knowledge, customer service, excellent boat, and of course the killer brownies are beyond any scale of rating. Simply, this is likely one of the best adventures we have ever taken. The sightings of whales, sea lions, eagles and even a turtle were fantastic. The small size of the tours lead to a great learning and instant friendship environment. Pick up and drop off directly at the ship was also most appreciated. This is THE TOUR to book if you are lucky enough to get in.
