enchantment of the seas 6/12 review.

Recommended Posts

I will start with the good and get to the bad..we boarded at 1pm and it went super smooth. The Norfolk terminal has it down to a science. Leaving Norfolk was really cool because you went past all the warships and aircraft carriers. i get into that stuff so it was awesome. The ship was flat out beautiful and clean. I loved the muted colors and the marble. The service overall was outstanding.

I did like my room, i was in 3527. It was a bear to get to for a couple days because my room was on a hallway that ran vertical and actually connected to each hallway that ran down the side of the ship. I hit the steps for almost everything. i would beat people to my floor all week long, and getting a helluva good excersice workout in the process. The bed was so comfy that i almost wanted to sleep. I saw my steward on day 3. He was cool. The room was always made up when i would get back. Stars for that.

Even though i didnt use it, the main pool/deck area was sweet. plenty of room for everyone. the ship had enough chairs for two ships wich was awesome. I liked the casino alot. It was very large for that size ship. I also came away a winner, so that helped.

urkey from turkey was friggin hilarious. This was Urkeys last week so i feel sorry for the cruise director. That guy wasnt funny.

Ok, onto the meal part. The "windjammer" casual dining facility was darn good and the "my fair lady" dining room was beautiful. The food in the dining room was above average. the poolside food buffets were outstanding. my favorite were the ribs and chicken.

The 'orpheum' theater was beautiful. the comedians, and rocknroll production was great. i did catch a few minutes of 'avatar" on the way back to my room one night. nice sound and great hd picture.

The "Solarium" was awesome. Reminded me of a Grecian Garden. Very nice and quiet. They do have food there, but nothing at all special. Just your basic burgers and dogs.

Here are the negatives, and it wasnt all that bad. 1. We requested in our booking that we get a private table for dinner. That got botched. there were 6 people already there. We went to the maitre d and he said " no problems no problems, we fix you tomorrow". He said a note would be sent to our room informing us of our new table. That wasnt exactly what we wanted but we were cool with it. the next day we sat at our new table. two ladies came up and sat down. we said, umm, this is a private table. The lady said, "no it aint, we sat here last night". We apologized and got up yet again.

The waiter told us to sit and relax and he called the other two women up to the Maitre D. They explained something to them and took them somewhere. Five minutes later we see the ladies again, and a makeshift table is made right next to ours and they sit. What the hell, talk about uncomfortable.

2.IF your by yourself in the Windjammer you get screwed big time. If i went to get a refill on a drink or a new plate, my table was always taken when i got back. One time i got my drink and silverware first and put it on a table. when i got back with my food, the drink was pushed to the side and two women were sitting there. I mean whos drink did they think it was. When you have a plate of food and then have to wander and find another table somewhere it gets annoying.

The whirlpools were BROKEN most the time. If you liked a whirlpool that was a problem.

I was nervous that there would not be a whirlpool and spa/steam room in the spa area and i was right. What they call a spa is a nice area for "treatments".

For the first time cruisers, be careful what is free and what is chargeable. The staff is pretty slick and you will purchase something you never thought you would be charged for. Great example fresh orange juice. they gave me a glass and i turned to walk away..next thing i heard was "Sir, Seapass please.

I would go on rci again for sure. no matter what you ask for, they will accomodate. that is a huge plus. hppefully i get another shot. We are doing Celebrity next.

Thanks for the review. We will be sailing on her at the end of July. It sounds like you enjoyed your trip for the most part and hopefully we will also. We are counting down the days. Did you try the rock climbing or trampoline? If so, was there a long line?

believe me, you will enjoy. take away the dinner seating fiasco and it was pretty darn smooth. i saw the trampoline area and rock climbing wall, but never went back there. When the winds were up, that stuff halted.

may i ask what room you will be staying. since i was on her just yesterday, she is still fresh in my mind. i can answer most your questions, i am sure.

what was the demographic of people like?

everyone from kids to people in wheelchairs. i was extremely surprised how young the peeps were. average age 40. it did seem that everytime i went off the ship i was behind some joker in a wheelchair. I was on the elevator a few times with someone who carried a portable oxygen tank..every 5 seconds you would hear a pshhh pshhhh pshhh..it was fine though.

This is something I am not familiar with. Poolside Buffets? Plural, as in more than one?

Only poolside food I remeber was the grill in the solarium.

Is this something they do now instead of the midnight buffet?

We will be on the enchantment in 21 days!

I will be the ship on July 29. Are you saying they charged you for orange juice at breakfast?

I haven't been on Enchantment yet, but based on my other RCL experience: "regular" orange juice is free - it comes out of machine dispenser. They have a machine that you can see freshly squeezes the juice out of oranges and that's what they charge for.

I will be on the Enchanment on Sep 4th sailing with 5 girlfriends. Is it true that they have a 70's theme party during the cruise? This will be my first time on RCCL. Thanks for your info!

it wasnt a seventies theme party per se..they played stuff like the cha cha slide, electric slide, etc. they did a good job of getting people involved.

the bottom line though was that it was 2 hrs, and the only deck party of the week. the enchantment sorta shut down by 11, except for the casino and the viking lounge..

this cruise was younger. it was only 5 days and was in the summer. kids were everywhere, wich was surprising. i expected to see wheelchairs everywhere. not so.
