Sojourn - a lovely cruise!

Today we left Sojourn at Dover, after a wonderful two weeks in the Baltic region. Dover to Dover was bliss - we walked off the ship at 7.50 a.m., and by just after 8 o clock we had our luggage in the car, and were on our way home.

We had reservations before boarding, having enjoyed all but the last of our Pride and Legend cruises, but we have had the most wonderful holiday. We thought the ship combined the best of the smaller three, with some advantages of size. Well done Seabourn!

Glad to hear you got home safely Pipkins - so did we after such an easy journey with no wretched BA strikes or volcanic ash or sitting around in airports!

It was, as far as we were concerned, an excellent cruise. There is no vibration on Sojourn. We were concerned about the bigger ship with more passengers - no problems at all, though I do not think she was quite full. There is acres of space, no queueing, and we thought the Colonnade was great - comfortable seating indoors and outside, and a much bigger buffet area than the Sisters. Over half of the passengers were from the UK - maybe Seabourn will consider more cruises ex UK in the future?

The staff, some of whom we already knew, were wonderful; Luca was on board checking that all was well with service, and it was. We will still travel on the little ships, in fact have one booked in the autumn, but were very pleasantly surprised to enjoy the biggger ship so much. One small gripe, which applies to all the ships, is that the dinner menu in the restaurant is virtually unchanged for a long time, and is getting a bit boring and old hat.

Hoping all the long distance passengers get home without problems, it was good to meet so many nice people.

Pipkins and lincslady,

glad to hear you enjoyed the Sojourn. We are looking forward to our cruise.

Just one question - where did it dock in St Petersburg? Was it the English Embankment or out in the port.

Thanks.

She docked near into the city, but on the opposite bank to the Hermitage etc. There were two Silversea ships also in, Cloud near Sojourn, and Whisper or Shadow on the other bank, slightly nearer the Hermitage etc. I don't know the actual name of the dock, but certainly not out among the rustbuckets.

Thanks so much for the post .. We are scheduled to sail on the Sojourn on the 8th of August for a 2 week cruise of Norway and Scotland out of Copenhagen and are relieved to hear that it appears that any of the potential kinks that come from being a maiden year have been worked through... Any tips you can offer on the various dining options are welcome..!

Anyone else possibly booked on this cruise as well that might be watching the Sojourn posts?

Best regards
