snshn3 Posted June 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Would one carry-on luggage and a duffel bag be enough for one person on a 12 day cruise?? I plan to rewear some of my capri pants one time, and maybe pack 4 pair of shoes. My plan is to not check in any bags, but to carry my stuff with me on the plane. Don't want to take the chance of losing bags. Brad1185 Posted June 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Pack for 6 days instead of 7 then half way through, have RCI do your laundry. Fees for us were reasonable, clothes were so neatly folded, better than when bought new. That way you dont have to carry so much stuff. elmo2003 Posted June 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2004 It's a matter of personal preference in how much you want to pack. RCL's dry cleaning/laundry pricing is extremely resonable, even cheaper than my dry cleaner at home, so agreed with Brad1185. Have RCL do your laundry for you! justcruzin85374 Posted June 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2004 This is what I find works for me..... How many sea days do you have? Don't count an outfit for those days, you'll most likley be at the pool in your swim suit. Black slacks will get you at least 3 nights, use the ships laundry half way through and the best advise is...... take away half the clothes and double the mnoey!!! Alexis Posted June 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Hi, I would question what you are taking on the plane. You are not allowed to take more than one bag per person on the plane, plus a purse, laptop, or something small like that. Two pieces of luggage are not allowed to be carried on a plane by one person. Go to the airline of your choice online and check their luggage allowance as to size, weight, etc. Here is the laundry list and prices incase you are interested. superjerryw Posted June 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Bring less clothes and wear them multiple times. You don't know the people on the ship before you get on board and chances are you will never see them again so who cares if they see you in the same outfit more than once. superjerryw Posted June 10, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Hi Alexis, you sound just like my wife... I drove through Henderson last week on the way to Hoover Dam from Vegas. Wasn't it a little warmer than usual for the beginning of June. I expected the high 90's, not 107. At least it was a dry heat.... jezzdogg Posted June 10, 2004 #15 Share Posted June 10, 2004 One cary on and a duffle for 11 nights, how big is that duffle-proably will have to check it anyway, they only allow one carry on and your purse, laptop etc. I am trying to figure out how I am going to get me and DH into 3 pieces of luggage for our 19 day med adventure(cruise is 14 days-3 formal nights, 3 semi-formal) and 5 days on our own. That means things to wear during the day, and my pants etc, for the evening and my long gowns-also even though AA lets us pack up to 70 lbs for internationl fights, AirFrance limit is back to around 50 lbs for their legs of the journey and in case I buy anything while we are away?? So we are looking at three bags, and one carry on each(one is for his camera's and our medications, Port boks, etc. Mine had my make-up. books for the plane. norm
yarlenna Posted June 10, 2004 #16 Share Posted June 10, 2004 For cruises of 3-4 days DH and I pack into one suitcase plus a carry on for swimsuit, camera, wallet, etc. For ANYTHING longer (our longest has been 21 days) we pack into 2 suitcases plus one carry on. In the suitcases, we pack an extra canvas bag for any shopping stuff, plus the space cleared by my soda being consumed. I generally pack in 2 colors, including pieces of outfits that can bridge between the colors. I pack one long black dress (drip dry incase) plus one fancy jacket that can do double duty by keeping me warm if needed. I also pack at least one scarf also for double duty - as wrap for one of the formal nights and for keeping me warm if needed. I only pack 3 pairs of shoes: one pair ballet style slip on (for formal night and does double duty as bedroom slipper), one pair sneakers (for touring) and one pair of sandals for shipboard life. Most things have to be worn at least twice, so I try to pack stuff that will rinse out in the sink and hang dry on the little cord in the bathroom. That small inconvenience is well worth it - I hate to have to cart several suitcases PLUS I hate having tons of laundry to do after the cruise. Work like a dog. Live like a pauper. Save all your money. Then Cruise! My gif kitties have gone to cyber heaven so that dial up cruisers don't have a problem getting their posts read.
