mom2two2 Posted July 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2010 I understand from various threads here that Marriott Stellaris, Conrad, Condado, Caribe and Intercontinental are the 5 hotels that you may get if you bid on Priceline using San Juan, Resorts. Are there any others that could come back instead of these? It seems as if most people are getting the Marriott Stellaris right now but I understand that I may get any of the above. I have never used Priceline and am a little nervous but think I am going to give it a shot once I have air fare lined up. Are any of these 5 resorts that could come back as a won bid "bad" or to be avoided for any reason? TIA
drakes2 Posted July 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2010 There are 4 resorts in the San Juan area: Marriott Stellaris, Intercontinental, Caribe Hilton and El San Juan, with the latter hardly ever coming up. You can get any one of the 4, and recently I've seen people winning the Intercontinental. No one ever seems to pay the "rack rate" in San Juan which is $300 nt. + for a resort. We love the Marriott as it has mostly good reviews but I'm sure any of the others are good as well and a bonus if you win it for a great rate on Priceline. Good Luck with bidding! :) I understand from various threads here that Marriott Stellaris, Conrad, Condado, Caribe and Intercontinental are the 5 hotels that you may get if you bid on Priceline using San Juan, Resorts. mom2two2 Posted July 13, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Thank you so much. Very helpful for sure. I am wondering....does anyone know if any of these are to be "avoided" for any reason...bad area, whatever?
mrchips14 Posted July 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I just used priceline this week to book one night (Sat) in Oct. 2010. I bid $100 resort and got the Caribe Hilton right away. I think you are OK with any of the resorts they offer. Good luck.
Cruisin KLS Posted July 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2010 We have stayed at both the Marriott Stellaris and the Intercontinental. I did not feel that either of these areas, Condado or Isla Verde, were unsafe. The El San Juan is down the road from the Intercontinental. Both areas have plenty of restaurant options and stores (like Walgreens). We walked at night to dinner in both locations, after dark, and felt fine. They do recommend staying off the beach at night. -Kristi
Donna - dsw Posted July 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Like anywhere - even at home - - you need to be aware of what is around you - I wouldn't walk alone at night anywhere!
