Celebrity Eclipse, or Holland America Eurodam?

We have a decision to make, so I would love to hear some input from others. We're trying to decide between the Eclipse, or the HAL Eurodam for an upcoming cruise later this year.

 

We just got offthe Solstice on Sunday (eastern Caribbean) and loved it. We cruised the HAL Zuiderdam afew years back, and loved that as well.

 

Both itineraries are eastern Caribbean and leave from Miami. We've been to these ports before and really, they don't make too much of a difference to us as we kind of do our own thing.

 

I LOVE the smoking policy on X: on HAL they still allow smoking in cabins, on balconies, and in the casino. So thumbs down to HA for that.

 

But the accomodations are very different for almost exactly the same price: a Royal Suite on Eclipse, or the penthouse suite on the Eurodam. Both INCREDIBLE cabins, but one is almost twice the size of the other (there are 4 of us).

 

Wife wants Eurodam because of the accomodations and their concierge service in the Neptune Lounge. I prefer Eclipse, as it's a brand new ship, and I fell in love with Celebrity last week (our first X cruise; but I enjoy HAL very much).

 

The fact that I'm posting this in the Celebrity forum, I'm guessing that most would lean in their direction. But it seems the majority of you are very experienced cruisers that enjoy cruising itself, so I expect that your opinions will be without too much bias, lol.

We were on the Eurodamn last Dec. First time on HAL was our 13th cruise.

LOVED IT!!! Super nice ship. MDR food was consistent and really good every night. Never ever seemed crowed except maybe the aft pool on sea days. We did flex dining and were seated every night within 2 minutes.

Next cruise is the Solstice Nov. 7th.

I have cruised on the Eurodam and the Solstice (the Eclipse's older sister). The Eurodam is a very nice ship, but I preferred the Solstice. I think this class of ship is stunning.

Devo1459, you're going to love the Solstice! Magnificent ship and crew, and very good food (Silk Harvest was an absolute standout to us), although we sometimes felt rushed in the main dining room with the anytime dining.

 

The shows were surprisingly very good too.

 

 

Seacruise9, I agree, that the Solstice was absolutely incredible.
